The Bachelor 20 - Ben Higgins - Episode 3 - Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*

I'm from Aus and have been really loving the Aus Bachelor/Bachelorette, but have typically found the US version to be waaaaayyyy overdramatic and the leads either super sleazy or just boring. But Ben reminds me so much of the type of leads we have over here and in NZ. Same with Lauren B and Amanda.

I felt so bad for Jubilee last night - I hope they all apologise to her when they find out some context!!!

Ben is definitely a "normal" lead and IA, he reminds me more of the NZ/Aussie ones. Also agree about the over-the-top contestants, etc. It's so obvious it is producer planned and what not. I also think UnReal the show has allowed many viewers to see just how nutso things can be on this show and it really does feel fake with a lot of the unnecessary filler, especially for the first episodes. It usually gets better when the girls are whittled down (just too many starting out to even bother caring about) so usually F6 is when I pay closer attention. I am hoping we get to see some more romance and sweet moments. So far I am also loving Lauren B. She reminds me of Matilda for Bach NZ as does her connection with Ben. Super cute. Everything else though is kinda "meh" imo.

All the girls had their not soo great moments in the last episode. Jojo and Becca showed their mean side re jubilee, Caila's crying and itm comment about jubilee, Lauren and Amanda were shown gossiping about Olivia. The worst for me was the twins and Amber's nasty comments about Olivia's toes, her boobs etc

I know that these people (men and women) both go on the show to become "famous" but I guess I have some standards. The powers that be could tell me to be snarky or mean to someone and I would go, "sorry that's not who I am" and would gladly be the next to leave. I mean really do these people not realize that how they act on a "reality show" can and will follow them for as long as people remember them???

It's complicated. While I guess some willingly play along, I don't think everyone is trying to be mean. I know I can be snarky and sarcastic. Take it out of context and I could look like a major b*tch. They are filming everyone for hours on end. They have leading questions that they use to get the answers they want...and then they can edit. I give everyone some slack. If their behaviour post show continues to show a similar pattern, well, then they are fair game.

The girls were just caught in unflattering lights. I think the "girl chats" and boredom/stress just made them talk just to talk. That scene where JoJo, Caila, Olivia, and whoever else was painting their nails and talking about Jubilee getting a rose meant that Ben saw a future with her and blah blah blah. In that deleted scene of the girls dancing Bollywood with the same exact people, Jubilee was sitting right in the middle stuffing her face with a sandwich. She has been defending the girls on instagram and twitter too, most recently Lauren H, for im guessing was the "soccer mom" comment.

Doesn't Ben say (in the interview someone put here yesterday) that he had no clue that the girls had a problem with Jubilee until he saw it on tv. He thought it was only between Amber and her. That shows that the drama wasn`t so drama filled as they make it seem...

I LOVE JUBILEE!! I could tell that Ben was on the verge of tears when Jubilee was telling him her story aww

I agree that it wasn't as drama-filled as they made it seem, but I also think that while a lot of the girls didn't full-on attack her, but still showed cattiness behind her back. There was another deleted scene of them gossiping about her behind her back. I also think it was just a handful of girls, as many of them like Jennifer, Lauren B, Amanda, and Rachel didn't seem involved at all.

To their credit, I did see that Jojo and Becca both admitted to being catty and apologized on twitter. Lauren H also apologized to Jubilee and said that she didn't deserve what she said about her.

JoJo, Jami and Becca weren't the only girls snarking about Jubilee after her date with Ben or about giving Ben a massage but they weren't as bad and/or not shown as much.

In the following clip at approx 1:40 Jen asks Jubilee what she's thinking and you can see Lauren in front of Jubilee but with her back to her kind of smile to I assume is Jen, in response to her response to Jubilee's answer about thinking about how to make Ben feel better, but she quickly puts her hand in front of her mouth and stops her smile. At approx 4:05 Shushanna shakes her head unimpressed by Jubilee massaging Ben as pointed out by JoJo, Jami and Becca. And at approx 4:12 you can hear Amanda quietly say, are you serious? to Jen in response to Jen saying, Jubes is giving him a massage on the table right now, like he's laying down.

I didn't see an apology from Becca, JoJo or Lauren H. on twitter, does anyone have a link/copy of their apologies?

Just want to give these women the benefit of the doubt if they did apologize which shows character. IMO.

Becca responds to someone saying 'sorry', and then JoJo agrees with her. Lauren H replied to Jubilee's tweet talking about her.

Hmmm. Then that sounds more like a backhanded apology from Becca and JoJo. Not exactly the most sincere. I would have to see the actual quote or perhaps an apology during next weeks episode.
