I wonder too because it's airing on the same Network as Love it or List it.

'The Bachelorette Canada' to air on W Network next fall

By: Victoria Ahearn The Canadian Press Published on Wed Nov 18 2015
TORONTO — Prepare the roses and the tissues: "The Bachelorette Canada" is headed to W Network and will include Canadian Jillian Harris, an alum of the U.S. version who has some sage advice for hopefuls.
"I think people are scared of what people will think of them, but I think if you believe in yourself as a person and you think you're fun and exciting and you're a great catch, you really have nothing to lose," said the finalist from 2009's "The Bachelor" and star of 2010's "The Bachelorette."
"I think people are afraid of rejection, but rejection is really good for the soul.... You never want to be with somebody that isn't a good fit, and the show really helps you find people that are a good fit.
"For me, I did find love and then it didn't work out, but I gained so many other things from it."
Corus Entertainment announced on Thursday that it's commissioning the dating series from Good Human Productions Inc., and plans to premiere it next fall.
It's the first ever Canadian version of ABC's "The Bachelorette" franchise and it comes after two seasons of "The Bachelor Canada" aired on City.
Corus says it will announce in the coming months who will star on the show, which follows one woman's search for love amongst 20 men.
Interested bachelors can apply online and through upcoming casting calls across the country.
Harris, who lives in Kelowna, B.C., said she will have a role in the show but she doesn't know what it is yet.
She'd love to host but she isn't sure she'd have time for it, given her current starring role on the real estate series "Love It or List It Vancouver."

Such opportunities are the perks of once being on "The Bachelorette," she said.
"That's one of the things I'm most grateful for from the experience, is that I have a voice and I'm able to have a brand and make a career from it."
Harris said interested bachelors should be prepared to take about eight weeks off work, in case they make it far, like she did.
They, along with the bachelorette, should also be prepared for the low points.
"Being on the show brought some of the best parts of my life and some of the worst parts of my life," said Harris, 35.
"There were times when my parents were so proud and so excited for me, and there were times that I saw my dad break down and cry and say, 'I hate to see you like this. I wish you would've never gone on the show.'
"There were times that I was under 90 pounds, I was so stressed and I couldn't deal with the bullying and the heartbreak and the attention. You never have any privacy and everywhere you go, people are pulling you away.... But it really strengthened me as a person."
For those looking to be on the show just for the fame, Harris warned: "Fame is not as comfortable as you think it is."
If love is the main agenda, "it's possible" to find it, added Harris, who hopes the show will "be a little less formal" than its U.S. counterpart.
"'The Bachelorette' U.S.A. is all about the big mansions and the fancy dresses and the fancy dates. I would like to see this as truly Canadian," she said.
"I want to see the bachelor and bachelorette go fishing in Tofino (B.C.), or camping in Tofino and be able to tell funny fart jokes or go to a hockey game."

The Bachelorette Canada coming to W Network
Jillian Harris has been there, done that on U.S. TV. She has advice for whoever hands out roses on the Canuck version.
By: Debra Yeo Staff Reporter, Published on Thu Nov 19 2015

http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/television/2015/11/19/the-bachelorette-canada-coming-to-w-network.html

The reality TV series The Bachelorette is coming to Canada and Jillian Harris has a wish list for its first star.

Some of the qualities she mentions are ones you might expect: someone classy, kind, dynamic with a good heart.

“But also funny and can throw back a beer and laugh at a good fart joke,” adds Harris. “A girl that isn’t too hoity-toity and isn’t too perfect, somebody that’s just raw.”

Harris is uniquely qualified to offer advice to whoever will hand out the roses when The Bachelorette Canada airs next fall on W Network. The 35-year-old Alberta-born TV host and interior designer competed on The Bachelor U.S. in 2009 and then became the franchise’s fifth Bachelorette.

A spinoff of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette began airing in the U.S. in 2003. In both shows, the goal is to end up engaged after whittling down 25 or more suitors through dates over a couple of months, giving roses to those with relationship potential.

The Bachelorette Canada is being produced by Vancouver’s Good Human Productions, which was also behind Season 2 of The Bachelor Canada, which aired on City in 2014. (There has been no word on whether it will return for a third season.)

Harris has gone on to host Love It or List It Vancouver and Love It or List It Too in the U.S. And when The Bachelorette Canada begins, she’ll have a yet to be determined role on the show.

Although she didn’t find lasting love as the Bachelorette, she insists it’s just as possible to find a partner on a TV series as anywhere else.

“The show gives you the opportunity to get to know somebody on a kind of a fast-track basis. For the most part they’re casting for people that are going to be a fit for you.”

Harris now lives in Kelowna, B.C., with former professional snowboarder Justin Pasutto, whom she met standing in line at a Kelowna pub called, yes, Roses.

Casting has just begun for the men who will woo the first Bachelorette Canada, but Harris has some advice for her when the time comes.

Don’t worry about who’s there for the “right reasons.”
It’s become a cliché on The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Those who aren’t there for the “right reasons,” i.e. to get married and have children, get treated like villains. But Harris says, “Who cares? He’s here. If you meet a guy at the library, is he at the library to marry you? No. You can still fall in love.”

Be open-minded.
While producers try to cast men who are good matches for the Bachelorette, they also cast “unique personalities,” Harris says. “There are so many different people out there.” And the men who made the best matches on paper weren’t the ones she fell for. “I fell for the quirky bad guys.”

Heartbreak is not the end of the world.
When she and fiancé Ed Swiderski broke up a year after their proposal was televised, “I thought it was the end of the world. I have never had a broken heart before like that in my life,” says Harris. But now, “I’m way happier with somebody else and my life has turned out pretty amazing.”

Be yourself
The pressure and social media scrutiny of making a TV show makes you “want to be this contrived version of what everybody is looking for,” Harris says. “For me, when I started to get negative attention, I kind of turned into the girl next door” instead of her true, F-bomb-dropping self. “You have to let those quirkinesses come out.”

Kill the bullies with kindness
And speaking of social media, there will be negativity, not just about what you do on the show but about your physical appearance. “Fight back with kindness,” Harris says. “Let people know there was hurt. Almost 100 per cent of the time people will apologize.”

Article interview with Jillian in HELLO Canada magazine.

Jillian Harris brings 'The Bachelorette' to Canada
NOVEMBER 19, 2015
http://ca.hellomagazine.com/film/02015111920253/jillian-harris-brings-the-bachelorette-to-canada

The Bachelorette Canada (W Network) is coming to small screens or the first time in 2016, and casting is now open to eligible men who are interested in appearing on the addictive reality romance. Cameras will start rolling in March, and the homegrown version of the long-running series is expected to start in the fall. Former Bachelorette and Bachelor contestant Jillian Harris tells Hello! that she’s excited about being part of the show.

“I am going to be involved in some capacity. I can say that I’m not the Bachelorette,” says the Love it or List it Vancouver designer. “I don’t think my current boyfriend would appreciate that. I obviously have a lot of experience in the area, and I’m a diehard Bachelor and Bachelorettefan. When I heard it’s coming to Canada, I thought, ‘I can’t be left out of this one!’” Here, the TV personality – who is happily dating Justin Pasutto – fills us in on what to expect from the show.

What are you most looking forward to seeing on The Bachelorette Canada?
I think it’s going to be a really fun series. It’s going to be a really great opportunity to showcase how great Canadians are, and we’re going to see a bit of drama and a really great love story. I didn't end up with the guy that I chose, but it was successful for me. I fell in love and we were together for a few years. It didn't work out for natural reasons, but it was such a cool experience and it changed my views on love. I used to be a little bit jaded, I didn’t know if I really believed in it. But it changed my views on love, relationships and being hurt.

Did your experience change your approach to dating?
It just made me more open-minded. I met my current boyfriend in line at a bar, and the bar was called Roses, so I thought, “This is a sign.” I was open to that. After going through the show I realized what’s possible when it comes to love. I also never imagined you could be in love with more than one person at a time. In that process, it was possible. With my last three guys [on the show] I still think I could’ve picked any of the three and it would’ve ended up the same. I loved them all.

The show is known for such over-the-top romantic dates and scenes. Are you a fan of big romantic gestures?
No. I still don't care about that kind of stuff. But I actually like to plan those kinds of dates. I still do that with Justin. I always plan these Bachelor- or Bachelorette-style dates, like, “We’re going on a helicopter ride!” For me, it’s so fun.

What’s something you’d include on a date for the new series?
When I was on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, something that fans [mentioned] to me over and over again [was] how much we showed of Canada and how beautiful Canada is. As Canadians, I feel like we’re always saving up to go away. I’ve travelled a lot and realized how many beautiful places we have in Canada. I think about Lake Louise, Montreal, Tofino, there are so many gorgeous places that I hope we’re able to showcase.

What advice do you have for the guys who will end up on The Bachelorette Canada?
You want to find love, but you also don't want to make a [fool] of yourself because if she doesn't pick you, you’re known across Canada. The show has brought me some really incredible opportunities. You really have to challenge yourself every day to be the best version of yourself and make the right decisions. I think it applies in life and on the show. And don’t be afraid to be funny and goofy. I think most people in life could use a laugh and the opportunity to not be so serious.

Is there anything you wish you’d known going into your experience as the Bachelorette?
If I could do it again I wish I could be more present and even less scared to be myself, to not have a filter and to be goofy. It’s hard. It’s typically everybody’s first time on camera. So, it’s really hard to be present. You just have to let yourself go. Go for it and see what happens.
