I don't think Josh bringing a date makes him insecure. I would speculate that he would have brought in more money if he was there alone.

I don't know if this is the date/gf he brought or if it's just a fan but for Josh's sake I hope it's just a fan getting really cozy. He needs to avoid the models in their early 20s like the plague.

True. I wish he would have put the charity first to help them raise as much money as possible. If Nick went for $5600, I think Josh might have had the potential to go for something close to that as well and by taking a girlfriend, he MIGHT have deprived the charity of almost $5000 or some significant amount of money.
Don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but the two times he went to events with Nick, he brought a girl. He took Anna to the event in Las Vegas and now he takes this girl to the Valentine's Day event.
She's 20..... which is really young for him.
