Mine does/said the same.whit90 wrote:My husband watches poker all the time on TV so I asked him if he ever saw Vaneesa . He said yes many times that she is one of the top players and has won more than 4.5 million. I think she really does know how to read people and so far is playing a good game.
If this group finds this out, she will be out the door. I wonder why she went on the show, I guess it was not for the money.

Sorry I don't watch BB but I enjoy reading this thread. Vanessa is a famous poker player who is in the house but no one knows her identity??

It appears that way.
A lot of people on the poker circuit are pretty under the radar. My husband was telling me that because she may have winnings over 4.5 million does not mean she hasn't spent quite a bit to pay to get into games.

Yes very true. We have two casino's in our area. When you hear of someone bragging they won x number of $$, they don't necessarily say how much they lost. It's a real problem.
How much do the winners win? Maybe it's because she likes the nature of the competition and thinks she can outsmart them which is something she is used to in playing poker. She'd rather not reveal her identity which in itself is sneaky.

^^ true. I knew her face and her name right away. I'm surprised, Dayvonne, who is a poker dealer, didn't recognize her.

Pro poker players pay to join tournaments. So depending on the pot, it would determine the buy in. You can also play online.

Oh. $500, 000. The runner wins $50,000. They will also give out an America's favorite award and I have forgotten that amount. There will be other monetary awards and prizes for certain things throughout the summer.

TY! $500,000 is a nice junk of change to put on a poker table. I would think that's her motivation, however I really have no idea. I find it interesting there is a contestant who isn't revealing their true identity.
It will be interesting to see who if anyone finds out and what their plan will be surrounding that info.

There are cast every season who lie about the careers for various reasons.
Lying is a huge part of this game.
This is really the only show I ever wished I could be a part of and simply have never pursued it due to age. I missed the window of opportunity.
My daughter and s-i-l say BB Canada is much better than BB here.

oops sorry, I should not comment on something I'm not watching. I didn't know that lying is part of the game.
When BB Canada is airing, it's impossible to miss the SM surrounding it. It appears to be very popular.
Kasha, your snark would be amazing! Would love to see you on it!

If I were even in my 30's still I would consider it. But that ship has sailed.
