Is that true? Crazy if so! I wonder how others have gotten out. Are handlers part of production or are they just handlers? J/W.

Handlers are part of production.

I know there have been others in production with a similar experience as Shapiro who have "moved on" without firing or talking about eating a bullet. I guess their contracts may have been different.

I think you're spot on that Elan likely helped inspire Siri's character tho we don't exactly know him I get the sense he's universally liked by contestants and good at his job

Jason Ehrlich was more her era. He married a girl from Travis Stork season eventually. He went on to create and produce Ready for Love, along with another former field producer.

I don't think this is a reality show. It is a scripted show that uncovers what "reality TV" is about.

Anyone else excited about the premier of this show??? I'm wondering where I could watch it live online...I think I'll skip the bette and watch this today

I will watch this to see how much it parallels things I have been told over the years. 
Personally, I have lost interest in the first few episodes of TB franchise, but I do continue to follow through the forum. So it's 50-50 if I watch 'Ette tonight.

I am looking forward to the reactions of long-time posters who have insider info like you mentioned ...though it's scripted and more dramatized than real life -- it seems to point squarely at the manipulation that happens behind the scenes...

I also really like Siri Applby and have enjoyed and sought out series she's done so I think she'll be great as a lead actor since she combines great comedic timing with drama
