Re: Married At First Sight - Season 2 - Ryan DeNino - Jessica Castro - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
The quickest way to confront/open up a passive-aggressive person? Agree with them. THEN they show their true colors.
Ryan: What's wrong?
Jessica: (Silent treatment) *mumbles under breath* Nothing's wrong.
Ryan: (Hopping off of the counter and walking away) Ok, nothing's wrong.
Jessica: (Slamming palms on the counter and screaming) YES! SOMETHING'S WRONG!!!!
Who can LIVE with this. I have to agree...she plays victim and doesn't take responsibility for anything. Ryan might be a hothead - but you know what you're getting. If you disagree, then bring it up in order to discuss it. (Example: When they were looking for apartments...he liked the apartment, she thought it was too much, and he gave in. ~~ When they found this apartment - before he saw it Jess turned around and said she loved it/wanted it. Who won? Jess. ~~After cooling off, Ryan returns to talk about the tatoo/piercing. Though he says she misinterpreted or misquoted what he said, RYAN comes back to calmly talk about it...Jess wouldn't hear of it and continued the fight.)
**edited**Ryan has problems with a temper - but Jess is at least half if not more of the issue. She fights about things that are not true - **edited**

Ryan reminds me of someone I know well. It's like anything said is a blow to his huge eqo. In this case he took the $100 situation and decided it was huge evidence of big, grand mistrust; that she doesn't have faith in him. So he was more concerned with her not trusting him than the actual problem situation It's as if the guy is parsing every statement as to how it reflects on his eqo and image. And of course the only communication about it is in high volume yelling and usually includes a put-down of the woman. The woman ends up walking on eggshells because as Jessica said - you can't read his mind and know what sets him off. So it will only serve to keep her from saying even less.

I absolutely despise when someone tells me nothing is wrong and clearly something is. I'm sorry, but you put on your big boy/girl panties and discuss this like the grown adult you are. PERIOD. If you wanted to be treated like an equal then you act like an equal. Hence the reason my husband and I have the rule....if you choose to not tell me what's wrong IN THE MOMENT and instead let it fester and irritate then you better learn how to live with it, because you do NOT get to bring it up later. PERIOD. And it took about a year for him to get this...but now when something's wrong he just says it...because he knows if he doesn't then he has to live with it and doesn't get to bring it up in the future. I'm not perfect and I don't pretend to be...but if I do something you don't like and you don't tell me about it then I'm probably going to continue to do it and it's going to continue to annoy you until it turns into this HUGE fight about something that could have been handled in a two second conversation. Jessica's inability to communicate annoys the hell out of me.

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 2 - Ryan DeNino - Jessica Castro - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
Regarding the $100....lets just imagine for a moment...that what Ryan says is RIGHT. (Because I have noticed Jess overblowing things - and who knows how she is twisting what happens off camera - and then she hangs onto it with her "He's a monster/I'm a victim" approach.) And let's say that on National TV, Jess goes about telling that he STOLE money and is a LIAR (pretty well, he doesn't have money to get by). **edited**fight that strongly every time she brings it up? I can.
He used to eat out all the time...is that a guy who has no cash?
And does she say - she also took $30 of the wedding money herself?

ITA. I'm surprised so many people buy Ryan's excuses about being misquoted and misrepresented. All I see are desperate attempts to save face, because his fragile ego can't admit to being wrong about anything. Everything he accused of Jess doing in last night's episode he does himself. Would be funny if it wasn't so sad. He won't take responsibility for anything he said or did wrong and always turns it around and plays the victim. Yelling over Jess's words about how she never speaks was a perfect example of how illogical he is. Reminded me of Christian in Arranged, except he's an immature 18-year-old, who was forced to marry a stranger. Jess DID speak her mind in the beginning, but he blew up and walked off. Now she avoids it until she can't and he still reacts the same. At least she's self-aware enough to know what her issues are. He, however, is completely deluded about his communication skills (among other things). Looks like Dr. C gives him some proper feedback next episode. Or at least I hope he does!

I agree with everything you have said. I have an easier time understanding Ryan than Jess. I also agree with everything he told her during the episode (playing the victim, not speaking up, pointing the finger at him and making him the bad guy for everything, bringing things up way too late). Though, he shouldn't interrupt her when she is speaking, that would make it easier for her to speak up. Also, everyone could see (or maybe it is just me) that the argument affected him deeply, the guy had tears in his eyes half of the time that he was talking.Regal_GG wrote:The quickest way to confront/open up a passive-aggressive person? I agree. No woman wants to be constantly talked down to like that by her husband. She has to walk on egg shells around him, or else he just blows up. And I agree with the person that said if he's like that around the cameras, imagine what he's like behind closed doors. There's no way I would stay with someone like that and I hope she pays attention to the red flags. I just feel like he's very aggressive and emotionally abusive for no reason. I've seen situations like this and it turns from emotional abuse to physical abuse. There's a way to voice how you feel without being mean-spirited.

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 2 - Ryan DeNino - Jessica Castro - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
Obviously, Ryan's temper is a huge concern. I wouldn't want anyone I cared for in a relationship with him. It's an embarrassment to the "experts" IMO that they would subject someone to this and cast him.
But also Jessica is pure passive aggressive spiteful to me. It's not that she can't speak her mind. IMO It's that she doesn't, makes pouty faces walks off and then let's it simmer until she sneak attacks Ryan with an "oh by the way I'm really upset about Xyzzy" type of comment at a random time. She would drive me crazy.
When Ryan couldn't think of a nice thing she's done for him, neither could I. I think she was basically done with him on the honeymoon. And probably rightly so.
A very poor match.

At this point, he could stand in Times Square with a giant SORRY sign, and that still wouldn't erase the abuse (appropriate term) that this girl has endured.

ITA. I've said all along that they're probably still together, but that doesn't change my opinion about him at all. Women with low self-esteem stay with abusive men all the time. Those men know how to be nice just enough to keep them hooked in a cycle of building up and tearing down. I hope for Jess's sake that watching the show back and hearing her family's, and the public's, opinion on his behaviour will make her see the light and walk.
