Yes the filming time line (to me) is still muddy!

Right, and personally, I need to see their sm game since I think it spoils the show every season. I know many think sm doesn't mean anything but I totally disagree and think it tells the story.

The conflicting information IMO implies TPTB has gone on a major foiler campaign this season including what is being released to the press. We will see what RS releases in the coming week if anything at all.

Kaitlyn was doing what was best for Kaitlyn.  Nick is the one that put his family through this again by going back on the show.

IA - Nick isn't inherently more special or more deserving of having his feelings spared than any of the other guys; it was his decision to put himself and his family through this process again.

I wasn't seeing it in terms of "special", merely of the lead already knowing her final 2 before HTD (doubt anyone is capable of really falling in love with 3 people) so there were 6 to choose from and someone else may have been interested, or in her opinion, to a good choice for next TB. The Next Bachelor benefits from having had a HTD experience.

Jared comes to mind as someone who might have broad appeal with viewers. 

I agree with Kasha ^ here... if that's the case it makes for a weird schedule -- would that accomodate for an F4...F3...F2 transition like usual? I'm getting really confused about the filming schedule and what the new spoilers from AL mean in context of what we've found previously...

I agree with that, because I still think the second RC in Ireland was on the 14th or 15th. That would still leave plenty of time for filming a third week before that article on the 22nd. It didn't specify when filming was completed, but probably not that many days before. And all the stuff about things being done differently this time around makes it hard for me to believe they just followed the usual pattern of 4 HTD's, 3 FD's etc. JMO.

I am sure there will be someone from Kaitlyn's guys who would make a good bachelor. I really hope it's not Nick because that would be a bit much after having seen him on the bachelorette twice. Surely Chicago is a big town and Nick can find someone from there and not go back on TV for a third time.
