Another consideration is in S. Calif ABC has more influence with getting comped and calling in favors than it would in other locales. It only makes sense.
Mindy Weiss for the JASH wedding looked at what venues were available for the best deal for ABC. Most likely this is why it was not a venue that allowed only one wedding event at a time. Those prime venues were booked/contracted.
Mindy Weiss has more networks in S. Calif. area., can call in more favors, sweeten the deal. I would suspect she might have less pull in another metropolitan area than that metropolitan area's top event planner.

Well we will have to wait and see what happens. If Andi and Josh give up having the wedding in Atl to have it on TV. But then again if Andi and Josh pay for their own wedding it can still be filmed by TPTB and just shown on TV the following week or something. I guess we just need to watch for clues and see what happens.

As much as I want a tv wedding I hope they don't compromise on having it in CA instead of Atlanta. I think it would be really nice for them to have it in Atl since that was part of their story and all.

IA with this. At the same time a TV wedding is also lovely since the family and friends can all fly out and have a mini vacation celebrating the wedding of their loved ones.

Besides the added bonus of getting paid $1 million is enough of an incentive to change their minds of the location. It can go towards their first house. From the looks of things, most of the friends of Josh and Andi seem to be able to hold their ground money wise, so it won't be much of a problem. They can start saving their pennies from today! I'm probably just selfish, but I'm desperate for a TV wedding!

Only Trista and Ryan were paid $1 million for their wedding. All the other couples made far, far less in terms of the cash payout.

I don't think the couple's gotten the big bucks ($1MM) since Trista... but they don't have to spend a dime on the wedding and they do get paid, so there is financial benefit to do the TV wedding, for sure.

Well I did some digging up and while the actual figure was not released, SeanCat got paid six figures for their wedding. So that's anywhere between $100,000 and $999,000. Plus, ABC spent an additional $250,000 for the wedding details. Sounds like a win-win to me!

I remember hearing something like a combined $150k for recent couples. Not sure if it's true or not.

It was definitely on the lower end of that six figure scale.

But besides the wedding and the cash payout, they also get to keep things like the around $10K dress, a designer tux, some of the jewels I believe, designer shoes, etc. So the couples make out really well in the deal. Then they get the comped honeymoon too besides that.

I believe that was the horribly manipulated bachelor and bachelorette parties. Remember Ryan's crying breakdown, they got him drunk and kept shoving stuff in his face. I felt so bad for Ryan in that pink disaster, but wow, they have made it ten years.

Oh and on the J&A front, Georgia actually has a growing film and tv industry. So production of something in ATL might not be too hard, though certainly not as easy as Southern CA.

Trista and Ryan's bachelor/ette parties were on St. Martin. Rob and Amber from Survivor are the ones who got married at Atlantis.
