Married At First Sight - Season 1 - General Discussion - **Spoilers**

From comments that Dr C has made on another board, Jamie's trust issues stems from the fact that she has little experience and the choices she had made in the past made her believe she was headed down the same path as her mother.  Remember, all the examples she had growing up was with abusive relationships.  

She's probably afraid that if she opens up and allows herself to love him & his family that it will all be taken away from her at the end.  Doug is perfect for her!

Jaime is taking Doug to whose trailer? Her mom's or one of her sisters? Did anyone catch it? Doug just is amazing dealing with Jaime. I certainly hope they can make it work.

Also love Jason and Courtney. It will be interesting to see how they play out and if they will continue on.

I thought it was very insensitive of Monet to have a girls night in when Vaughn was returning. Yes you can tell your girlfriends don't come over because my new husband is coming/came home and I want to spend time with him. These two are on such different wave lengths in communication. Maybe next week they have a break through.

I thought it was very insensitive of Monet to have a girls night in when Vaughn was returning.  Yes you can tell your girlfriends don't come over because my new husband is coming/came home and I want to spend time with him.  These two are on such different wave lengths in communication.  Maybe next week they have a break through.

I actually felt sympathy for Vaughn. Monet really does not understand her introvert, so advice on that is....in the future Vaughn should ask her to plan to spend that evening he returns with only him.

I think Jamie is taking Doug to her sister's. I don't know if Jamie even knows where her mother is. She made the comment that her mother attended her wedding but that one of her sisters tracked her down, she hadn't seen her in months. That gave me the impression Jamie doesn't keep up with her mom at all. I feel so bad for Jamie, she looks petrified about taking Doug next week, and even more so about letting go and completely trusting him. Trusting that he won't bail on her. I give so much credit to Doug and giving her the time she needs, what a wonderful man.

I don't understand Vaughn and Monet either. Though I don't blame Vaughn for being upset about girls night when he just got home, I mean they are in an experimental marriage and they are suppose to be working on it as a couple. Their behavior when he got home was so strange too. Monet just stayed at the sink, and Vaughn just sat down, they were so distant. Heck I've been married 25 years and I still go up to my husband (we both do) and give him a kiss when he gets home from work every night. I don't know about these two staying together, the constant bickering would make me crazy!

I also noticed how strange their behaviour were. I also have been married for almost 30 yrs and we always hug and kiss when we get home from work. And at times I will even wait at the door when I hear the garage open and wait for my husband to open the door and surprise him. I understand that they're in an experimental marriage to me the more reason to do everything to make it work. I absolutely love Doug and Jamie together. Doug is so patient with her. He's the kind of man a woman should look for. I'm hoping that Jamie will fall madly in love with him. Doug I think is already in love with her.

I'm glad I'm not the only " married long time" person here.
I observed the same thing with Vaughn & Monet and know they are making such HUGE mistakes. Sure he travels, so they are not together all the time, but that's not a big deal. But greeting each other warmly and MAKING time to reunite IS important.
Case in point, for the past 5 yrs my husband of 30 yrs and I have had to live in different states. Seeing each other daily is not an option, so we call each other twice a day to talk and skype. When we get to fly to see each other, it's lots of immediate hugs and kisses. We hang on every word we say to each other and totally immerse ourselves in being together.
Doug is SAINT Doug IMO.. From what Jamie said in her interview on The View, she does realize that now.
A total understanding of her early life will come when he sees where she has been and compares that to where she has worked hard to get to.
Jason's guard will either be continued next week, or he will start to let it drop. I think a lot will depend on seeing Cortney do the burlesque. We do know that he went to NC to meet her fam over the 4th of July.

I found this episode to be informative, and insightful. But my money is still on the success of C& J and J&D.
I'm going to take a few moments and see if Alex McCord has her recap up yet. If she does, will post later.

Yes I agree with everything you said. Loving the progress of Jamie/Doug and Courtney/Jason. So sweet & natural.

I have been firmly on Team Monet and not feeling it with Vaughn... until last night. I was surprised that when Vaughn came home, she did not seem to turn away from dishes and give him hug. I was also surprised that 1) she planned a girls night when she had not seen him in 2 days and 2) that she flipped and got made at him that he wanted to spend time with her.

What's sad is that they seemed to be doing so well for most of the episode and then I was surprised with this ending for them. Monet is an awesome gal but I gotta say that I 100 percent see Vaughn's side. Poor guy HAS given up a lot for her as he pointed out. She needs to give back!!


ETA: Ha! I see after I kept scrolling down that several of us long-marrieds (20 years for me) made the same observations about MOnet and Vaughn and had same comment!   It's like you just want to reach into the tv and give them both a good shake. They are two people who really could have a chance (and make beautiful babies!) if they just gave an inch every once in a while and communicated.

He really is a sweetheart! They seem to be so good for each other. I hope it continues. How lucky for both of them ... and in particular, Jamie ... that they have access to professionals in range of specialties to serve as a sounding board for them and help work through issues.

ITA with you regarding Monet's actions last night. Things seem sooo choppy to me. I think alot of their time together is heavily edited. Monet seems to want Vaughn to enter her world, but I don't see her attempting to enter his world. One thing that I noticed with Jamie and Jason is that Jamie takes the time to get to know Jason's world. I can't remember but did they show Jamie showing Jason around her neighborhood? I agree with the poster that said that Jamie has very good communication skills.

Regarding the bolded, I think that it frustrates him that she doesn't see the need for their special time when he returns. Herein lies one of their problems, imo. I really do think that he wants a woman who is more intuitive to his emotional needs.

I really give credit to the team of counselors for pairing the right guy with Jamie.
