No she's trying to say that he's much more than her type of guy (athlete, player). She's defending him in a way. Downplaying Nick by only mentioning his smile and his intelligence if you read the rest of the article

So much has been said about that issue that he's her type, but she's essentially saying he's more than that and she's come to realize that not every guy is the same. Ironically, I'm 99% sure the only reason Josh signed up for this show is because Lauren & Stephanie talked him into it - insisting that Andi is exactly his type, she lives in Atlanta and they would be perfect for one another.

Otherwise he would NEVER sign up - why on earth would he need to?
