It's not a straight shot, ever, to Winnipeg. They are probably flying Dallas to Chicago to Winnipeg- and there are only a couple of those flights a day. Also, at this time of year those relatively small planes are full of fisherpeople who are headed to the far north for a little adventure. To be sure they're arrive, considering travel delays are constant, they left early.

I checked flights. Though none are nonstop, there are plenty leaving flying through Toronto and a couple other cities (didn't see Chicago) of a workable length. And if per chance there were only long flying days to get there then they should have been flown a day ahead. This event ends at 2am and if they've been up since 4 traveling then I'd say that's a bit much. IMO
