I don't know why I didn't think of this before I was talking to my sister tonight and she asked if I knew of Chris from Iowa on the bachette.  

My sister is very social and know a ton of people.  she doesn't know Chris personally but one of her close friends does.  Again this is third hand but she said he has been asked to be the bachelor but the issue is it will be during harvest and his Dad doesn't want him gone then.  As her friend said they are millionaires and can do without him one year but that is the hang up it sounds like.

Having grown up on a farm myself, that's the first thing I thought of with talk of Chris being the next Bachelor... Spring and Fall, that's your time.

Married to a farmer. We don't go anywhere at harvest or spring  planting time.  

It makes perfect sense, but I would still love him to be the bachelor.

If I hear more I will post it. I told her to ask her friend for anything else she knows or hears.

Emily was home for Ricki.
Chris can be home instead of the mansion! 
All 25 'ettes can be crammed into the barn. So what if they have to share with the livestock. 
Group dates can be slopping the pigs and helping out with the harvest! SQT takes place in the silo. 
They could simulate a county fair type thing and have canning and bake-offs. This would surely separate which girls were there for the right reasons.

And Chris could give out blue ribbons instead of roses!

Only someone from Iowa would know about the butter cow...normally, I would agree that fall is a rough time to be gone but this is a big farm and I'm sure they have hired hands. Might not be as big of an issue.
When does the Bachelor begin filming? I know my uncle was always completely done picking by the first of October end of September.

It's still pretty early I think for them to be doing any promo stuff for the bachelor, I would think that might start towards the end of August.

I'm still hoping maybe Chris's mom and sisters will intervene and make it happen for Chris to be the bachelor - maybe after they see the reaction to him at the MTA things will work out for Chris.

They film the bachelor intro packages last week of August or early sept usually.

I really hope and believe Chris can make it work for one harverst season with a large, financially sound operation like his family has. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I hope his dad can look at the big picture and see that. It might be more of a family fear of him explanding his world beyond the family business and hometown and a fear that he might be lured away. Or maybe Chris is using that as a bargaining tool to get a good deal from TPTB.

I like Nick but don't see it with him as Bachelor given the fan reaction and edit he's gotten. If Chris does decline, I think they completely shot themselves in the foot with Marcus going on BIP and falling in love (which if a romance, not a showmance, I'm totally thrilled for Marcus but he could have been an awesome Bachelor   ). And also what about Marquel? I would still put him ahead of Nick to get it.
