Perhaps this is one of the reasons why CH was talking about getting someone from outside the franchise.

They are never going to do that again. Trust me on that one. Just if it was some super big celebrity, but they probably couldn't afford that anyway...

1998:

1]
In 1998, he was found guilty of speeding six to ten miles per hour over the speed limit in a 55mph or under zone, and let off with a fine.

2000:

2]
In 2000, he was found guilty of the same offense and fined again, records show.

2001:

3]
In February, he was found guilty of possession of alcohol under age, stemming from an incident on New Year’s Day. He was let off with a fine.

4]
The next month, records show he was found guilty of failure to maintain control of his vehicle, and fined.

5]
On May 2, he was found guilty of possession of alcohol under age and fined yet again.

6]
And in August, he was found guilty of the same charge, with added charges of driving with an open container of alcohol, running a stop sign, and speeding. He was found guilty of all charges and fined, court records state.

2002:

7]
He was found guilty for fighting and noise on Valentine’s Day 2002.
He was also found guilty of unlawful use of a license. Let off with a $50 fine and community service.

8]
He returned to court the next month for a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. The charge was reduced to defective brakes, but he was found guilty and fined.

9]
That same month, he was also fined for a stop sign or yield sign violation.

2006:

10]
In 2006, he was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and fined more than $500. According to the charges, his blood alcohol level was less than 0.1 ,but over Iowa’s legal limit of .08. Court records show that Soules was fined more than $500 and served one year of probation.

2007:

11]
In August 2007, he was found guilty of speeding 6 to 10 mph over the limit in a 55 mph or under zone, and fined.

2009:

12]
In late 2009, he was found guilty and fined yet again for speeding 16 to 20 miles per hour over the speed limit.

2010:

13]
And on November 18, 2010, he was found guilty of a registration violation and fined.

According to Iowa court records, he’s managed to stay out of trouble since.

I don't see these as a major thing. First of all he lives in the middle of no where, and if you haven't lived in the middle of no where, driving can be a little different. If he was getting charged with 6-10 over, he was probably going about 15 over, reckless is typically 20 mph over and if that were the case they probably would have nailed him for that.. more revenue. Yes, he's had a lot of tickets, but I wouldn't doubt if the police hang out and wait for him, especially if his family is well off. I grew up in farm country, and our family doctor told me that the police would hang out by his home, waiting for him to get an emergency call so they could nail him for speeding to get to the hospital. Crazy, but true.

Where do you see that he was in Ames/Des Moines?(Ames is the location of his college ISU and they DO look for kids being stupid)

The judge for his OWI was from Oelwein Iowa which is near his home town(not Des Moines or Ames)
I looked up the OWI (DUI) and he was charged with 321j2a which doesn't even say that he was over .08.

He apparently ran a stop sign and was caught with alcohol in the car. (underage) I don't see where that occured.

One charge 321.288 failure to maintain control can be arising from several different things from going into a ditch to passing a slow moving vehicle (tractor)

I think we should cut him some slack because he hasn't had any significant issues since he was college age. The DUI was likely when he was 23 or so and LOTS of good guys mess up as kids.

He didn't hurt anyone, he didn't beat up the neighbor's dog or his neighbor's wife: he drives fast and liked to party as a college student.
What a horrible, horrible person and certainly should keep him from being the bachelor (NOT) 2cents Smiley

Yeah. That's the link.

Okay, DUI isn't a good thing. But he was less than .1 (.08 is intoxicated) He was 24 and probably recently out of college. Bored and likely been to the bar and drank 2-3 beers.

The alcohol prior to turning 21 is pretty common for college students. Most of us have been guilty of that behavior at some time: most of us have not been caught.  It is also somewhat more common for country kids: again, bored and looking for a thrill.
The speeding tickets are also "nothing."

It is mean to bring up convictions for alcohol for someone in their early 20s and call that a "lengthy arrest history." Please....
It also tells me that his parents made him "pay the piper" and didn't just get him out of his tickets, which they easily could have done.

Jenna Bush got in trouble for this when she was in school at UT. It mad me laugh, since I was a UT ungrad too. I was probably one of the only ones without a fake ID. But yeah, when you are the president's daughter the whole fake ID thing in your home state. So not going to work.

The DUI was dumb and honestly probably a wake up call.

As for tickets. The roads around where I live are like this people rushing to medical centers or other such. I always go 8 miles over the speed limit an d have never been pulled over for that. My one ticket came for 15 over the speed limit, when I pushed the petal to get around a person going under the speed limit in the left lane. My brilliant smart ass PhD holding husband who is now 40 and about to be 41 has gotten three speeding tickets in our area in the last two years. They all get reduced when he goes into court, but seriously for an intelligent man, I wonder how he can't figure out cruise control.

Speeding to me especially on country roads, where literally I have been stuck behind someone going 20 in a 55 mile per hour zone happens. Two lane country roads suck and are huge speed traps. I have a feeling he might have a had a flashy vehicle to go along with it.

And on a total aside, he went to ISU instead of Iowa! Go Big 12, the awesome conference with 10 teams!

As for Ames/Des Moines. See dates in the register. He was in college. Plus the majority of those incidents were handle by Story County officials.. (that's Ames)

Where did I say anything about that? It is well documented on this board how much I like Chris. Still think he is a good guy.
However, criminal charges ARE a serious matter. I personally don't like to brush things like these off.
Sure, it's relatively harmless doesn't have to mean I like it. This is my opinion. If you don't think much of these arrests, that's your opinion. (They differ, but we are both entitled to our own.  yes ) It's a topic that hits close to home for me. Sure he didn't hurt anyone, doesn't mean he couldn't have...(hence, the laws)
7 arrests in a span of 12 months IS a lot. Period.... and it's not like all 13 arrests were because of speeding. Only 2 of those 13 were.  :hidingchair

Re the bolded you didn't say it, others seemed to feel that his college days arrest records were a basis for precluding him from consideration as the Bachelor. I was just saying that in the grand scheme of things, considering the age of his infractions, I don't think it is a big deal.
Do I understand your concern about any DUI, I do. But, I also know that many people drink and drive(I know we shouldn't but people do particularly when they are young and stupid.)

You are definitely right that we both have a right to our own opinions. I respect that....not only on a forum level but on a human level.
I just hate to see someone getting bashed for something they did when they were young, so I was sticking up for Chris, no conflict intended between us. Smiley Smiley

IMO, I think that drinking/driving or other offenses when you are young and yes, stupid is one thing. Obviously he hasn't done it for several years now so hopefully it can just be chocked up to stupidity, and as such....maybe not a big deal in the grand scope of things.

I had a cousin that was in all sorts of trouble with the law, etc right up until his 29th birthday...he's been straight as an arrow legally ever since and he's now a grandfather who's tried to teach his kids and now grandkids to keep on the straight and narrow.
