I know this is first time that I've seen it ... probably not the first time that it happened ... that Chris Harrison essentially went into the guy's place and essentially told the guys to focus more on Andi than each other. IMO proves just how well guys must have got along and also IMO why TPTB used Nick to stoke the flames.

Bingo. This is exactly what I suspected last night and this video just further confirms it. Producers decided the season was too boring, guys were getting along too well, JJ's shit-stirring with Andrew didn't have enough of an effect so hey, let's start whispering in the guys' ears about needing to "step up and make it about Andi..."

And then when there's Nick who seemingly is there for Andi and about Andi, suddenly it gets turned into "he's so arrogant, how dare he think he's a front-runner, etc." Like I said, the show can make all their manipulative edits but I'm sticking with JP in not buying this Nick, so arrogant edit they're trying to sell me.

I'll remain in my dinghy of one in still loving Nick. I never thought the spoilers were wrong anyway about him not being Andi's F1 and I have zero issues with that. Until the show can create some video footage/evidence of Nick deliberately antagonizing anyone, creating drama with other guys and basically deliberately messing with the other guys, etc. then I'm not buying this "villain" edit they're trying to create. He's arrogant - well so what. Being arrogant does not necessarily make someone a bad person IMO. And frankly I thought Andrew, Patrick were both arrogant and I think Josh is slightly arrogant as well.

eta: The video that comes after the one with CH is also interesting. Nick, Josh, JJ and Marquel are sitting around discussing the possibility of Brian getting a rose during his 1 on 1 date with Andi. JJ is the one who goes on about how Brian made everything about his being good at basketball during the basketball group date and how he thought he should have made it about the connection with Andi and Josh talks about how his being a nice guy is not the point but whether Andi feels anything between them.

None of the guys say anything necessarily bad but I thought it was interesting that JJ and Josh and even Marquel seemed to do more of the talking there and Nick, the supposedly super arrogant guy who is certain he is the front-runner and acts that way with the other guys really doesn't say much throughout the conversation. Yeah more reason for me to roll my eyes at all that Nick drama and believe it's all contrived.

^^^Really JJ seems to be stirring the pot/be the most opinionated than anyone. I think with JJ's fancy pants and self-professed dork status, the guys just don't see JJ enough as a threat to call him arrogant!

I like Nick just fine ... would not call myself a fan girl of his and I honestly have no strong opinion on where he lands in F3 ... but I don't like to see him being thrown under bus and run over a few times for the sake of drama/ratings when he doesn't deserve it.

All my males friends rib each other and me all the time - its all in good fun. I don't think Nick meant to be hurtful but when Cody said it hurt him he quickly apologised. Have you ever meant to be funny and it comes out wrong? I sure have.

This. The scene actually ended up being so awkward and made the whole thing even more ridiculous. Cody starts getting all heated and Nick remains fairly calm and when Nick says, "Cody didn't you and I rag on each other a bunch of times and say things to each other", Cody pretty much says yes. At which point Nick says okay but then admits that he didn't realize Cody was so bothered by what he said and he apologized. At which point Cody's ire deflates and the whole thing seems even more ridiculous but suddenly all this drama is basically over nothing.

eta: Just saw JP's tweet - I knew there was a reason he's always been one of my favorites. JP and I are on the same page here. I said it last night but I really feel like the Nick drama had some bit of producer manipulation behind it. Like maybe there wasn't enough drama and so they started whispering in the other guys' ears.

I have also never been a fan of the "gang-up" on this show towards one contestant. I always often find myself siding with the one being ganged up on because I hate group-think mentality. On top of that, in BOTH instances, the editing showed the guys attacking Nick first. Last week was all Cody and Tasos once they realized they weren't getting any 1 on 1 time with Andi before the rose ceremony and last night, Cody and company were not the least bit subtle when they started the conversation, with the clear intent of leading to basically telling Nick they think he's arrogant because "how dare he - he thinks he's the frontrunner." I'm sorry, I just found the whole thing incredibly juvenile and contrived.

As for group mime stuff, while yes Nick should have just gone with the whole cheesy thing and have fun with it, I think Nick just ultimately thought the whole thing was stupid and didn't think it had anything to do with falling in love with Andi which these ridiculous things rarely do. Going by Nick's own words from the earliest episodes, he already had some skepticism about the whole show process and the ability to really find love in a situation like this. And I think with the whole miming thing he just kind of felt like "this is stupid - "how the hell is hanging around outside, looking ridiculous with a bunch of guys, not saying a word to the woman we're here for, going to help us fall in love with and build a relationship with her?" Yes, I admit it wasn't the most pleasant and fun attitude to have but I might have felt the same which to be fair is why I would never go on a show like this.

Excellent post! My thoughts exactly ... I watched last night with my unspoiled daughter and she thought Cody was being such a meathead and was the one attacking Nick. If you actually listened to words, Cody can apparently dish it out but not take it. I just can't take Cody seriously whatsoever ... just not my cup of tea.

Andi's strong reaction to Nick shows that she has higher expectations for him. Yet, she is the one that put the target on Nick by giving him the FIR, a one on one date AND a group rose date ... when at that point the attacking guys (Cody, Patrick and Andrew) had yet to receive even one of those. I would NOT count Chris in there as he was being very diplomatic with Andi, she was pressuring him while he was trying to minimize the situation.  

While prior "bad boys/girls" such as Courtney, Tierra, Kalon, Vienna, etc., all did something that warranted group backlash, I have yet to see Nick do or say anything other than be the Object of Andi's affection.  

And, I don't blame Nick or any guy for not wanting to participate in the mime date! I was frankly embarrassed to watch. It was sooooo dumb and they looked just foolish. People of Marseilles were clearly not cheering them on. I can't imagine any guy from age 12 and up wanting to participate.

I think more people had an issue with him being a complete poor sport and total fun-sucker during the group date. At least that's what has shown up in my twitter timeline.

So in the preview when she says that "There is a reason Venice is the most romantic city in the world. I just don't want this night to end." She's probably talking about her date with Nick. Right? I mean it wouldn't be the group date or Cody so this means things are back on track next week between them.

I am not saying Nick is justified on his bad attitude, but come on, how did that group date help anyone build a connection with Andi? At least basketball date is more fun.

Yes but JP took part in that and didn't refuse which is what it appears Nick did. All these guys have been on group dates they hated. Miming is no worse than the singing or the stripping. In fact, it's probably the best choice of those options. Nick should have just sucked it up and had fun during the mime portion.
