Just to add a reminder, that between the night of May 10th (11:39pm EST) and the early morning of May 11th (some time before 2:40am EST) Nick favored a tweet about the Green Bay Packers. That means he was in DR up late at night before his trip back home.

Do we know for sure the plane trip was on May 11th?

I don't get how Nick doing this to fool people would be considered 'smart'.

Hypothetically it wouldn't be to fool people.  People choose to believe RS or choose not to or believe some it. To fool RS, well there is define tally a case for that.

Smart?  If it was a ruse, RS would have to decide if he wanted to post it (like all those pics through the windows of Nick's parents' house that would have required moving from window to window - trespassing really).  Then rag mags would need to decide if they would pick up RS's vid story.  They didn't.  So vid has a much smaller audience HOWEVER the mags did pick up RS's spoiler of F1.  It WAS the vid that gave him legitimacy.

Could be smart because if Nick is the F1 (or Chris or Marcus) then he has more freedom of movement because people are watching not only Josh but are focused on Atlanta.  If Chris was walking around Nashville this weekend, I'm not sure if he would be spotted.  If Nick wore a wig, doubt anyone would know who he because his curly hair is one of his main features.  If Marcus.... Ok, maybe not Marcus as he is really noticeable HOT.  See, it could be clever.

Likely not what happened but there is a case for smart.  It is really important that Andi and her F1 have as much time together as possible to figure out their relationship.

I feel like everything I see on the show only further reaffirms what I've been said after the FRC(about Nick being realistic and skeptic and Andi trying her hardest to reassure him (and his fam), etc..(I mean she even said so herself in this week's episode.. that she wants "to make him a believer" etc..)) As far as I know the vid is legit.

I tried to stay spoiler free until at least F4 but once again I got spoiled on YouTube when I googled Nick Viall and found the RS videos of Nick on plane. As I've said on non spoiler threads, Nick is my current favorite but I am unbiased and completely saw connection with Josh as well. I am anxious to see their 1-on-1 in ep 5.

With all that said, I have a very hard time believing that the airplane videos are the real thing. I've got questions and if these may have already been discussed, please point me to answers ...

1. Hello, ABC ... Why are the videos still on YouTube? You'd think that ABC lawyers would demand to pull them off. Shoot, it says they were posted on May 19th and RS has been boasting about them. You'd think that someone either in ABC's camp or in Nick's camp would ask to have them taken down since they are clearly in violation of Nick's contract.

2. Random passenger (!?!?) ... If the videos were indeed taken on May 11th by random stranger/passenger, how would Nick have been recognized and how would said random passenger think that his phone call was worthy of videotaping? I am LONG time fan of show who actually studied the guys on the ABC web site prior to opening night and was still confused when Nick was given the FIR. Who on earth would have recognized him?

3. Nick's confidentiality clause ... does this exist anymore? What happened to contestants and in particular F4 having some confidentiality clause where he is not supposed to tell anyone the show's outcome? We all know that finalists do end up telling close family and friends but gosh, have to think that they wouldn't be blabbing about experience on packed plane when there is million dollars at stake should the outcome get out.

4. Nick Knows Contracts ... With every deal Nick closes as an Account Executive at software firm, lawyers are involved and a contract is signed. That's just how big software deals work. Since Nick works in the world of deals & contracts, I just have to believe that he knows his contract and wouldn't be so willy nilly in breaking it and ESPECIALLY by being such a chatty-cathy phone call that could result in him get sued.

5. Timing ... back to random passenger who just so happened to video tape ... if I was some random passenger who put two and two together that there was some guy sitting in front of me blabbing about being rejected on the Bachelorette and therefore decided to videotape the call and take photos to prove it was him ... I wouldn't ON THE SAME DAY think, "Hmmm I am going to send this to that Reality Steve for him to spoil the show." That's just WAY too coincidental and way TOO fast for Steve get his grimy hands on evidence.

6. Money .... In addition to strangeness of timing, the other thing that gets me is what's in it for the passenger doing the taping? The vast majority of people (in the tiny minority of people who would even put two and two together to videotape Nick's call) would think ... what kind of $$ money $$ can I get from selling this audio? Should I contact ABC? Should I contact TMZ? Should I contact US, Enquirer or InTouch? Should I contact one of the entertainment shows? Should I contact a lawyer to see how much I can make off this?  I know that Reality Steve pays for evidence but surely some of the bigger players would have paid bigger bucks and the person who took the video would have shopped for best deal. At least I sure would have!

7. Sound quality ... The sound is pretty darn good, considering the random noise happening on the plane and that Nick is sitting in the row ahead of the videographer. Nick must have really been speaking loudly ... for a guy who seems somewhat reserved on the show ... hmmm ...

8. Knowledge of Jason/Molly ... And, finally, does anyone really think that Nick keeps up with other couples from this franchise? Even RS called Nick a "virgin" in his knowledge of how the Bachelor/ette works so why on earth would Nick know what other finalists have done? Sure, maybe his handler shared this with him to give him hope (pump him up for the ATFR) but it just did not ring true.

My initial guess: the airplane videographer is someone connected with the show who sat behind him and audiotaped this call. He then immediately sent the footage to Reality Steve so he could one again falsely and with all of his annoying bravado spoil Andi's season.  

After the big set up of Des & Brooks' spoiler last season, I bet that ABC knew they had to up the ante and what better way to do so than via a staged videotaping so that RS could have tangible proof. RS could be in on this as I have always thought that RS is somehow in cahoots with Fleiss and this way RS could save face by pointing his finger at the video proof.

Or ... I could be totally wrong and Nick isn't as smart as I thought. Good luck with that lawsuit to Nick and good luck to Josh and Andi.

Excellent questions including some I hadn't thought about. I do think ABC would be able to get the videos taken down if they pushed youtube. I also think that Nick was too loud for talking about something he signed a non-disclosure contract for. The person filming has to be fairly close behind to be able to hear him. If this is a smaller plane and has only 2 seats on each side which I suspect (anyone know?) makes it even less likely that he'd think he was okay to talk with someone sitting right next to him. I also find it very suspicious that someone would give the info to RS so quickly. Maybe they wanted to be part of the spoiling but you'd think they'd have waited to think it through before sending it to him. He's so happy to get it that he doesn't seem to question it at all. I think it's very possible that Fleiss is behind it but it's strange no matter how you look at it.

First of all, I have to admit that I happen to believe that the tape is genuine. However, since you guys are speculating (which I love) on the veracity of the tape, I'll jump in with a suggestion of my own:

What if it has nothing to do with producers or anyone else, and it was just Nick, being his funny self, and playing a joke on whoever he was talking to. Maybe one of the other guys or an inquiring close friend. It just so happened that a busybody was on hand to film the prank and made it public.

I am looking at editing clues, and social media, as well as screen caps to determine final one. So far the evidence points to Josh. I am looking forward to their 1:1 date to further confirm or maybe place doubt.

As far as the video goes...... I would not put it past RS to have hired someone. LOL It is definitely detrimental to Nick though with everything he said about Josh AND Andi.

Social media has provided some of the biggest clues and will continue watching there too!

I wouldn't put it past RS either but it's not likely he could have done that. This is the closest thing to evidence there is and it isn't proof that Josh is f1. I'm not aware of any SCs of Josh after (potentially) his HTD. They've been very stingy about previews which makes it more interesting to speculate.

I already speculated on this idea in the edit thread, that perhaps he was lying to someone on the phone but the person filming the video didn't know Nick was lying, nor did Nick know someone was filming him.

I totally agree and believe some are giving TPTB WAY too much credit.  

This is a silly show and most "average" viewers watch for the entertainment value and would never dream of sleuthing out the clues. LOL I am definitely not an average viewer.
