LOL years ago--I was monkeying around on our desktop and accidentally deleted the modem. I don't monkey with techy stuff too often now.

I've had a couple of virus' in my years of computing which I was able to get rid of. The last one I had a couple of years ago, pretty much taught me when to give up and get proper technical assistance. I saved as much as I could on a stick, brought the laptop in to the techie guy to get wiped and start over. I put the stick in to retrieve my documents and there was nothing there. I knew it saved property because I checked it several times. :shocked!: Apparently, because the stick was on my desk next to my cell, the stick got wiped.

I found a program to retrieve deleted files. Put the stick in, everything was there, including other documents from years ago that were removed from the stick!  :shocked!: I put the stick in someone else's laptop and nothing was there. What a learning curve that was.

I have no idea where to put this question or even if it's appropriate, but some of the editing that has been done on other topics is leading me to asking it.  Please feel free to move or delete.

GuardianAngel, you mentioned that no one had been banned from the board this season, even though I know we have kept you and the other mods very busy.  I'm very appreciative of that, and have always felt that I have tried to be careful about the board rules.  However, a couple of times, I've noticed that my comments have been edited (I think one was a swear word, which caused me to look high and low for a rule about swearing.)  I never received messages about the edits, nor was the edit noted with a reason.  I don't mind, at all, but I just wondered if there was guidance given to those of us who were stepping too close to the line and causing problems?  

I really haven't posted heavily this season and THINK I've been fine, but I do know that I was more involved than I'm comfortable with in the kerfluffle around Emily's season which caused me to leave entirely for a long time. I'm only back now because I think the mods and admins are doing a fabulous job. Any time I'm even slightly offended by something being posted, it's edited before I can even react to it. Thank you for that!

You will seldom receive a PM if your post has been edited. This morning for example, it took a good two hours, between a couple of Mods, to clean up threads. By this I mean reading every single post, edit posts, delete posts, if a post has a quote in it that is the offending post, that post needs to be edited, when you're editing two and three posts within a post, there are quote tags that have to be adjusted, and then going back and re reading to ensure it was all caught, because we are being interrupted with real life and can't remember where we left off. We simply do not have time to be sending PM's to every single post that has been edited explaining why it was edited. If there are 12 posts per page, times lets say 2 pages, that's approximately 24 posts, even if half of those were edited, that's 12 PM's. Not to mention the replies to those PM's back and forth. It's not feasible.

If we have edited 2-3 pages of posts, we don't save what the posts consisted of. We edit/delete it, and on to the next one. We might not remember word for word why it was edited and can't possibly stop to send a PM while in the middle of editing a post.

If things get out of control, and there are too many posts to deal with, then ALL of them will get deleted, the good posts and the ones that are not within rules. We do not like that to happen because there are a lot of good posts, however, if a problem has escalated into 3 or 4 pages, the thread has to be locked, so we can deal with it. Otherwise there are more posts while we are working on it, to compound the problem.

Refrain from using "you" in an accusatory manner.
Any posts that contain the above are NOT tolerated and will be deleted without notice. Continuous behaviour is cause for permanent banning.

Deleted - Edited Posts - During peak season, when emotions run at a high level, there are usually a high volume of posts that contravene the rules. Such posts will be deleted/edited, without notice or explanation. The Administrator and The Moderators have the capability to delete/edit the subject post, and all posts that are quoted in the subject post without notice or explanation.

Don't know where this would go, but does anyone viewing this site on an iPad constantly get redirected to download a random app in the App Store? I've noticed it's been happening more now but it could just be me.

^^Yes, Truelove, it's been happening a lot in the past week. It's for some candy game app. It only happens when that's the ad at the top of the page, but unfortunately that ad comes up a lot randomly. So annoying...

Glad I wasn't the only one. Now, I'm randomly being redirected to a different link that's an ad.. so weird. I notice this only happens on iPad.
