This kind of festival is very common in the South. There is always a queen and she often will have a court. They sometimes have some amazing dresses as well. Sean may have been to something like this before but I suspect Catherine will be blown away by the hoopla! Welcome to the South!

They dont have festivals like this in the south of California. One city in my county does have a strawberry festival that I've never been to. No Queenie. No parade. I have been to the Avocado festival in Carpenteria though. Again, no Queen or parade. Been to lots of wine festivals too. I think I am the Queen at those. "More pinot, peasant!" laugh out loud

^^^Some of the best parties I have ever been to are at Fiesta in San Antonio. They have a Queen and princesses and a huge parade and each dress that the girls wear has been hand beaded and costs about $100,000 per dress. It is a sight to see!

Wait, we do have The Rose Queen and Princesses and I'm pretty sure they come with their own parade and football game. Never been to that either.

Yes and no to the different league- the rose queen and princesses usually are high school students- they just live in a little more sophisticated place.

I was actually talking about the whole Rose Bowl experience versus a local festival. While the local parades are fun, they do not quite rise to the level of the Rose Bowl parade.
