Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - General Discussion - *Spoilers*

Good first post KB_Mom!

In the words of our airline stewardess...buckle up, it'll be bumpy ride!

KBmom I think you have nailed it to a great extent. I think he was genuinely taken in by Britt. She said all the right things and she is drop dead gorgeous. He has said in interviews that his views on some of the women changed over the course of his "journey." I think Britt is at least one of the girls he is talking about. 
I also agree with the kid in a candy shop analogy.
But I also think it was telling that the Iowa ladies said "That's our Chris," when talking about kissing Britt on the first "date."
A gentleman, respectful of women, (he was raised with a household full) but a bit of a wild child(DUI and I think it was disorderly conduct while in college.)

Thank you to all of you for the welcome!! I feel 10 pounds lighter because I now have a place to share all my musings about this show. For the last couple months I have felt like I was talking to myself since I have no one to discuss the show with. None of my friends are into it and I tried to get my daughter interested, thinking it would be a nice mother daughter bonding time to watch together. But she only lasted 15 minutes and was bored.

Perhaps she has better taste than her mother. Although she did say she thought it would be fun to be the Bachelorette and get to travel etc. and I said "over my dead body!!"

You're right- I forgot about the comment by the Iowa women. I guess when you live in a town of 400 and you wind up dating three daughters from the same family, everyone knows your dating "MO"

I did think he was absolutely mesmerized by Britt and why not- she is gorgeous and although I think there was some acting involved, she came across as very warm and sweet.

For a guy who I think TPTB are unfairly portraying as a "simpleton", he does seem to have two very different sides to his personality. Hard working, family man, respects women, a gentleman, but as soon as he gets off that farm, watch out. He definitely has a wild child side to him.

Great post KB. I just want to mention that while people are calling Chris provincial and unsophisticated, if RS is right then he made a much better choice of F1 than winery owner advertising agent Ben, multiple bar owner Brad, and traveled the world pilot Jake.  Maybe he isn't as shallow, characterless, dull as many seem to think. I'm looking forward to the season!

I hope my post didn't make it seem like I think Chris is a country bumpkin: I don't. I think he's smart, funny and obviously good looking. There was much discussion before the show started filming about his arrest records. They don't particularly bother me since they seem to arise from "goofing off" when there isn't much to do.
From what we've seen of him I like him. I really, really hope he makes good decisions. I think his final 2--that we have been able to sleuth--with or without Steve--appear to be lovely ladies and most likely 2 of the best choices available to him so I think ultimately he did use his head and his heart. 
I guess the point of my post is to show that Chris isn't one dimensional. He is a gentleman, but he likes to have a good time too.  I don't think he will be boring. The ladies selected will certainly add to the mix to keep things interesting.

To be as successful as he apparently is, I very much doubt that Chris is the simple, awe shucks, kind of guy they are trying to portray. A business man has to know be aware, knowledgeable, be willing to take chances, weigh the heavy decisions and be tough when necessary. He went to college and was engaged for...I believe 6 or 7 years...so it's not like he never left the farm or dated. I don't see him as shallow at all...quite the opposite in fact. And can we really compare him in character to Jake? Cause I think I know who would win that one. I like his self deprecating, sometimes potty mouthed sense of humour and his easy going charm. I am also looking forward to the season...I think I may finally enjoy another one.

Ugh! I was just doing a comparison check with past Bachelor promos. Regarding Sean's, all of Whitney's scenes are edited in the same spots as Sean's F3 AshLee, Becca's with F2 Lindsay and Miss Pottymouth with Catherine. Also Jimmy Kimmel only pulled out Miss Pottymouth's picture when Chris was his guest. Even though Jimmy often "incorrectly" guesses the top 3 or so of the Bachelor or Bachelorette's finalists, he still traditionally sneaks a peekaboo of the F1 just to get a reaction out of them.

All joking aside, by the time the fantasy dates are aired... or Women Tell All... you kinda "know" the outcome regardless. I remember watching the "journeys" of Andi with Nick and Josh on her Men Tell All and thinking to myself... ooooh, the Nick fans won't be too happy next week. She was kinda gooey during Josh's sappy letter scene in Belgium.

JBF_ will gladly hold your hand to get through what looks like a crazy season. Just be warned I may squeeze your hand tightly at some of the crazy times.
