Re: Bachelor 19 - Chris Soules - General Discussion - *Spoilers*
Being from Iowa myself - not all farmers are muddy and dirty. Many families that have farmland, rent it out and make big bucks doing just that. Chris may be a "farmer" but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's uneducated, dirty, and rides a tractor around town. Iowa lifestyle is much more laid-back and slower paced than big cities on the coasts, but that doesn't make it bad. It's just different than what many are used to.

And if I'm not mistaken, he was actually one of the BEST dressed at those RCs. Wonder how the heck he ever managed to pull that off? Has the Wells Fargo wagon upgraded their merchandise?
I got to agree. Apparently I am one of the few.
I have been on these boards for a long time and have seen a lot of vitriol aimed at contestants, but that is usually during the peak of the season when fan flags are out full force or at the end of the season when some are upset by being foiled by MF. I have never seen such mockery of a man before his season even starts, let alone someone who was well liked by his fellow contestants and seemed to have been shown as nothing less than a gentleman during his stint on the show. At least there is usually some basis for the criticism and sarcasm....other than the mans profession...which happens to be admirable in my book.
You could be the juiciest, most ripe peach, but there is still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches.

I think he's going to be fine. People will watch, and I think he can actually find a wife because the fact that he actually wants one is a step ahead of many, many, many Bachelors before him.

Iowa hawk fan!
Thanks for your scoop about farmers and Iowa. I think Chris is a good guy and a great catch. But it's going to be fun snarking about "The Bachelor Farmer"!

Chris was one of the best dressed if not the best dressed in Andis season. The man has style, not exactly the dirty and uneducated picture that's its being painted for this Bachelor.

I am NOT excited for Chris as the Bachelor. I think it will be soooo boring. That being said, I will keep an open mind. He can't be worse than Juan Pablo or Jake. I just hope they don't limit the international travel because of his small town roots.

Why, do you think he's "ascurred" of them big ole air-o-planes?
I'm sure they'll keep the format the same, it's what brings in both contestants and viewers.
Gotta say that I'm sort of proud of myself that this NYC snob, born and bred, is keeping an open mind and not stereotyping the farmer from the heartland without even seeing the show. :halo:

I just can see the producers making the whole season about how he is a farmer. I mean the poor guy went to a farm field in the DR on his fantasy suite date.

Someone made the analogy to the low rent "Farmer Wants a Wife" and all the ridiculous "farm challenges" they put the women (who if I'm not mistaken were largely cast because they were "city slickers") through for sh*ts and giggles. But, as much as WE may consider TB franchise a joke, the producers have always tried to classify themselves as the ONLY SERIOUS DATING SHOW OUT THERE. To that end, I can't see them purposely making Chris' season into a farce, since it goes against their supposed premise of being higher class than VH1.

Iowa_hawk_fan ! I was hoping we would get more posters joining in to stick up for Chris and to learn more about the American Heartland. I personally would love that lifestyle. All it takes is one special lady!

A close babe offered it up to me! She was busy cleaning out the basement and came up with the idea. Smart cookie that one!
