Anyway, happy for him. No clue who Mary Steamer is. Is that Casey?
He was invited to the Twitter office in San Francisco just after filming wrapped (I think it was the morning after the night he got home) and they periscoped from his account about an hour long Q & A session with him and I believe the reason he still receives love from the past contestants/leads is because he isn't manipulating them. He simply genuinely cares about people (most—not a$$holes) and is fascinated about relationships, etc and he said if you talk to people and really genuinely care, they want to talk to you.
He is very kind and generous (and also snarky) from what I see on his Twitter (when I remember to check), that I wondered how he could keep going back to this job year after year because it seemed to go against everything he appeared to be. Then after seeing that Q & A periscope he truly loves his job because he loves people and the inner "workings" of people. I'm not sure if you can still access that scope online but his user name is just his name. That said, he hasn't used periscope in a while but I don't think any of them have and (maybe that form of SM is going to fade away) I deleted anyone I was following that I didn't know in real life so I might've missed some.
ETA: I love him too. I saw that on Christmas Day he tweeted, did anyone need some love and then he sent love to everyone that responded and it must've taken a good part of his day. I wish wonderful things for him because he is so further evolved in self awareness and relationships between people than a lot of people I've noticed and he deserves it.
Oh I just remembered something that stuck with me.... I cannot remember how it came up but he said in that Q & A that he cries an average of twice a week and wasn't ashamed of it at all but almost bragging or challenging other men (and women) to go ahead and do it—that it's cool to feel your feelings. That was my take.

This makes me like him more. Because the contestants refer to him so kindly, you know he is well liked. He's not crazy - just his job! And how many people have crazy jobs they love? I know several.
Been watching this crap show like forever

I am happy for Elan. I know Molly is a successful actress so it is nice that he is dating someone who can understand the lifestyle. I don't think that in his job he harms anyone. All the people who choose to go on reality TV do so by their own choice and well informed consent.
The thing I really like about Elan is his authentic original quirky nature. He is real.

Maybe he has nothing to do with manipulating anyone. Maybe production assistants do that? IDK, they all seem to be well liked by the various SM pics we get.

Sometimes I think we give the tptb too much credit for what the contestants say or do. I think their job is mostly done in the editing room where. Nick on after buzz said no one told him what to do or say. the only time they will prod a contestant with leading questions or suggestions is if that particular contestant is not giving them any dialogue.
Most contestants have said nice things about Elan and I think he is genuinely a kind soul, loves people and like to give back

TPTB can't edit what a person does not say or do. The cast has to give them the material. The ones that whine about the "edit" need to take a look at themselves in the mirror. Self reflection would be a positive thing for all of these people. After so many seasons of the Bach/Ette airing no one should be surprised that their words and actions can and will be used to fit the storyline of the show. No :strings1 from me. JMO

Oh I don't feel sympathy for the cast for falling trap to the game. But I think what some of the producers do (even just for work) is pretty nuts. I do believe a fair amount of manipulation goes on.
I also think contestants don't wanna burn any bridges, so it's in their best interest to forget about .

I think that TPTB are given far too much credit for manipulating contestants and it certainly is an easier way to pass the blame on TPTB rather than individuals who are going on TV for "love" in the first place.
Even Nick himself has said too much credit is given to TPTB repeatedly (and just last week he said it again) that no one can put any words in ones mouth or make anyone do anything and that no one made him say or do anything on the show. Brooks agreed with this.
They can edit it a certain way later on, but Nick said that people but too much blame on the TPTB when that's not the case. Brooks also agreed with this.
TPTB just want dialogue, Nick said, and may suggest talking about this or that to contestants who have not much to talk about, but Nick said that it's usually the ones who the lead is NOT interested in that this is the case with since if the lead is interested in someone they have easy dialogue based on mutual interest. Again, Brooks agreed with this.

Key word: sometimes . There are enough examples floating out there from past contestants, even ones who faired with good edits and were fan faves.

^ I guess it depends if one believes them or not.
I tend to think that most of what happens takes place in the editing room.
It's very easy to edit and splice and dice what a contestant says and put it in a scene that is not what happened than it is to put words in a contestants mouth.
They all go on this show and sign a contract that says they can be edited any which way so I don't feel sorry for any of them - not after 20 seasons and them going on for "love".

IA that the contestants do say the words, but those words are sometimes edited and used in a different scene by overdubbing. It is shown when you hear contestant/lead's voice but don't see their mouths. I've noticed if you turn away, you can often hear the different volume, background tone/sound (for lack of knowledge of what this word is technically called if anything) or tone.
An example of this that comes to mind is on K's season in Ireland the morning after K and N's first date, Joe asks Nick what they did on their date and he said blah, blah, blah....and we went back to her room and it was "intimate" paraphrasing. Nick did not say that word then, it was overdubbed in from another scene or ITM. Same goes for many of the references to the time K told S he was the one, San Antonio is overdubbed. So tptb to me are ALL of the people working or have decision power on this show, including editing, and not only the producers.
