I doubt they could just cash in the rings without having to pay back ABC or Neil Lane, on top of which they will have had to pay income taxes on the value of the rings. These couples do not make so much money that they are shielded from having to prioritize and make choices among the expenses and income they actually have control of.

Although ABC will probably make sure they have just enough to keep up appearances, and they probably aren't having to budget on the same level as the average young couple.

Just FYI, we are considered upper middle class by the IRS but manicures have never been more than a rare treat for us. Just doesn't make the top of the list for me.

Some interesting observations learned from the Jason and Molly podcasts:

They don't make as much money as most viewers seem to assume. BUT, apparently "free stuff" arrives for the women from vendors pretty much daily.
