I think you are mixing "formal" with "white/black tie". For a "formal" wedding a dark suit is just fine. yes

By the way - Ali got a job at the Grammys so she's not going to be at the wedding. People posted on her pic at the Grammys that this is proof the wedding isn't live. Sigh.
