I can't quite wrap my head around this ... to get married in California you must have a California marriage license, one from Texas won't work
I must me missing something, but I'm stumped right now ...
I am with you! Unless they snuck off to California while we weren't looking or are secretly getting married in Texas before the TV wedding, I am clueless as well.
Unless they need two marriage license one in Texas and one in California but again if you are getting married in Cali . You should get your marriage license around California. It doesn't make sense in Texas though.

This is also what came to my mind after reading her tweets but I am hesitant to say it here because I have no idea about it.

In the bigger counties you can get the paperwork online. But you have to show up in person in the county clerks office of the county where you are marrying. A lot of county's require cash and you have to apply in person.

The licensing procedure is just tedious- document collection, paperwork... do they still require blood tests? Nothing romantic in it. And I think that when you look at your marriage as a commitment made in the sight of God, as they do, then the license is far less important in your mind (though in the sight of government it is the important piece).

Well maybe she means they are filling out their Santa Barbara County application and then they'll head to the court when they arrive in California? Who knows!

In most states blood test are no longer required. California no longer requires and neither does Texas.

I just went on the SB County website. One (or two) can apply online. Then, when you appear at the courthouse you call up your number at the kiosk (which has all the info already) and you see the clerk, pay and 30 minutes later you have the license.

Thanks Jcrbll. That makes sense. I know here most people fill out the application in advance because it can be fairly tedious. It requires info about your parents as well as your own info.

You rock! Thanks for the info. That's most likely what they are doing then. Tedious, but worth it, SeanCat!

Yrs, if we put our heads and our knowlEdge together we can usually figure anything out!
I don't know about California but some of the questions you have to swear to in Texas are very unromantic! Like are you related by blood. Are you being coerced in marriage. Have you been married before. Things like that.
