I do plan to watch Juan Pablo's season. At least, I'll give it a whirl, for a while. I do like him, and so far, I see some of his differences as cultural. I'm a middle aged wasp, but was married to a blue-eyed 6'4" Cuban, and after hanging around his family for 15 years, I do see some of the latin nuances in Juan Pablo. Because of my personal experience, I can overlook what I would otherwise perhaps misunderstand as being "in your face" or "out there" behavior or remarks.
I do expect this to be a different and interesting season.

secretviewer I can identify with what you're saying. I too see the cultural differences coming from a multi-cultural background. I have Hispanic friends and family also, mostly from Puerto Rico. I have also known people from Venezuela. I think Juan Pablo's season will be interesting.

I'd totally support Brooks if he did want to do the show and I certainly would watch him, but I think he'd be better off not doing it. I think many of the leads do not come off looking as good as their previous stints on the show and there's no telling what kind of edit they'd give him. While it may sometimes be possible to find love on this crazy show, the odds are against it and I think he would be better off on his own. Plus he did say that he was not interested in doing it after seeing how exhausted Des was.annie340 wrote:If Brooks did decide to be The Bachelor, I would really support that. I know the show has it's problems but, so does every other show. I also think that having a lead person who is more real and not willing to cave to the producers games, might be a plus for the show. Brooks has already showed that he is his own person and will do what he thinks is right. That's also why even if he want's it, he might not be chosen.

isittrue I agree with you to a point. I think one of the main reasons the leads might not have come off looking as good as their previous stints is because there is a difference between being the supporting cast and being the lead. There is more responsibility and you're more visible for example. People get to see more of you and your faults as the lead and in some cases the producers exploit that. Brooks has tried to look for love on his own and that didn't work out good either. I know the show's track record isn't that good but, if you look at the stats, real life isn't either. It may just be a reflection of what's going on in society as a whole. Just this week I was talking with a co-worker who realized that she is the only married person in the office (she feels she needs to get us married off now). There was one other married lady but, she retired. In a small office of eight, one person is divorced, one married and the rest never married. People have tried all kinds of ways to meet that special person so, doing the show might not be so bad. True, Books did say he wasn't interested after seeing how exhausted Des was, but he was exhausted from the break up and the aftermath, and the produces said they were going in a different direction anyway. I also read where he said he wasn't into coming back to TV anytime soon. But who knows? People do change their minds.isittrue wrote:I'd totally support Brooks if he did want to do the show and I certainly would watch him, but I think he'd be better off not doing it. annie340 I totally agree with you about being the lead vs being the contestant.
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

annie340: You make a lot of good points. I am not single but I have plenty of friends that are and they tell me all the time that it's not easy out there! I would never fault anyone for going on the show - it takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there on national tv like that! I also agree that there is a difference between being the lead vs. being a contestant. You are definitely more visible as the star and have a lot more responsibility. You also never know how the producers are going to edit you - they are concerned mostly about entertainment first so I don't put anything past them! My main concern going on this show besides a possible wacky edit would be the realism of the dates. You are in these exotic places doing exciting things on camera and that may make things hard once you return to real life and dinner and a movie dates. Plus the time frame of 10 weeks dating multiple people would make it hard to fall in love with someone too. It has happened on this show - but the track record is not great and I truly think the true relationship starts once the show ends and the cameras leave and even then the track record is not great. Like I said, I would definitely support Brooks if he was the Bachelor but I don't think he needs the show to find anyone. He already has lots of female admirers if he did not already and I am sure the right one will come along soon. In the meantime, he looks to be happy and enjoying life and I am happy for him!:Smiley:annie340 wrote:isittrue I agree with you to a point. Relationships making it either on the show or in life don't have great track records. I did enjoy (got hooked is probably a better description) both in Sean's season and Des' but we'll see about JP. It's crazy to think people can fall in love and become engaged in such a short time period (especially in this artificial setting) but it has happened. I hope Brooks finds a sweet girl and falls in love....just wish we were there to watch it. I think he has lots of women that would be interested.:eyesigh:

Thanks isittrue! You make a lot of great points too. I really don't think the exotic dates are a problem because everyone knows when they leave the show that's not part of the equation. That's why it's so important for them to focus on visualizing a real future with the person they choose. I think most of them see those dates as a great chance to travel and experience places around the world they might not otherwise experience. I really enjoy the exotic locales (maybe because I live in one). The only problem I see might be what Brooks mentioned that you can get so caught up in the moment that you don't know whether the feelings you're experiencing are real or influenced by the location. That said, if you use their time wisely as Brooks did, you can figure things out. I don't see the time frame as a problem either because people have fallen in love and even married in less time than that. Brooks does have a lot of female admirers but that could be a double edged sword. The more popular you get the irony is its harder to find someone because it's difficult to know whose with you for the right reasons. Also, with so many how do you choose just one? LOL He's a smart guy though. I think he'll work it out regardless of the process. I do agree he looks happy and is enjoying life. I love the pictures and little videos we've seen of him since the show. I guess that's his way of letting his fans be a part of his life. Maybe we'll get a pic or video of that special person when he finds her. That would be awesome!isittrue wrote:annie340: You make a lot of good points. I read the review and think it's very good! Loved how Brooks provided details on the form, function and portability of the product. These are all important considerations to potential buyers of this type of item. Very useful review if you're in the market for this product.sfrank wrote:WOW, just wow! can this man get any hotter?!afterawhile wrote:sometimes it pays not to sleep at night?...?tbartonphotography
