I agree that it might have been to let her know it wasn't part of his contract.

ETA: She said she wants nothing more to spend the rest of her life with him.. though I would have preferred satisfying him.

I don't agree with the Ian & Meredith part. Ian wasn't planning to propose on tv but that didn't mean he didn't want to be the "last man standing". He decided at the end to propose because he knew that was what Meredith wanted and he did it to make her happy. They both had strong feelings but ultimately they weren't right for each other in the long haul. The similarities I do see between Brooks & Ian is that they were neither the right type to be on this show. Ian seemed like a duck out of water & ended up with a horrible edit to try to hide the chemistry. He was angry at how his brother was edited but Brooks escaped that at least.KCCasey wrote:Regarding the underlined, I've listened several times and I think she says, "I promise to tell you every day." I assumed that was in reference to saying "I love you" every day. It doesn't matter here nor there, though. I absolutely think she told him everything. And I don't think he flipped out at all, which is why he is fantastic. He just doesn't care. But seeing it in screen is different than being told what happened, so he hasn't watched. Can't say I blame him, but I absolutely don't fault him for that. I instead give him absolute credit for having confidence and self control.
For those of us who have been around a while, Brooks and Des were a lot like Ian and Meredith. Ian never wanted to be the last guy standing, but he didn't have the courage to bow out. I'll never forget his brother discouraging him and telling him there were more fish in the sea. That in comparison to Brooks sister telling him that what is best for Des will be best for Brooks, even if it is painful at the time. Imagine putting another person's needs ahead of your own. The world needs a little more of that.
Overall, one of the best seasons ever. A great lust story versus a great love story always makes for a lot of discussion. Like many others on this board, I'm sure, I've had a Brooks and a Chris in my life and I'm so happy that I chose the love story. I wish them all nothing but the best.
I love that Des ended up with the guy who was there for her all season. They seem happy now and that's what's important to me.

1. he compartmentalized the experience, relying on his baseball experience to only focus on one thing at a time. Thus, he could be confident in Des' feelings for him as he wasn't thinking of the other guys at the same time he was thinking of Des.
2. His mother is a therapist (?correct). You bring shop talk home and I have no doubt she has shared with him, if not the entire family, how to move past trauma and build a relationship.
BTW, I loved it when his mom was tearing up at the dinner table during HT and his dad grasped her hand. Chris had good examples at home of how to express love and emotion.
Been watching this crap show like forever

You are so darn logical! This makes a lot of sense to me as well. Thank you for all your good insight.JBF wrote:This is why I like posting this stuff, because I know I will get more "angles" to it from fellow Eagle Eyes and Ears.
AND... the whole James drama was about "being the next Bachelor" which Chris stated on screen he was 100% not thinking about.
I always felt manipulated by the Bentley drama - thought it was a huge black mark in a fantastic, love-match of a season and that everything was totally amped up by handlers.
However, I never felt manipulated by the Brooks drama because producers fortunately ripped off the bandaid in one 40 minute stretch of breakup/tears. In the end - thanks to spoilers - I lost faith in Des being able to come to her senses. However, I never wavered from unspoiled to spoiled that Chris was her "meant to be" F1 because of everything I saw all season long w/Chris being Prince Charming to her Cinderella.

Great points! Another reality that the two share ...
It's very unique that they SEEM to have so few hurdles to overcome or childhood scars to heal. They both seem so squeaky clean & naturally happy people. Lucky.

Totally! I noticed that too when I rewatched after the finale. I didn't pay too much attention due to the spoilers, but I'm loving going through their scenes now.MVMom39forever wrote:Great points! I just want to add on to Jupi's post that when Des responded to Chris' proposal she said a thousand times yes (para-phasing). Also, KUDOS to JBF.jupi wrote:JBF, thanks for the transcript! I think she said "I want nothing but to spend the rest of my life with you" though and not "satisfy you". But ITA on your point regarding the underlined line

WOW!Adele1117 wrote:You do realize it's Brooks' fans' thread. People don't come over here and say negative things about Chris. Why aren't Brooks' fans afforded the same luxury? What are you saying about Brooks' fans? That they're horrible people are something? Right along with Brooks, I guess. As I said, I did plenty of reading and discussing of Gia on Twitter and in real life. And I was the one that mentioned anything on here about her. Don't judge.Aunties_Love wrote:Very true. I would like to think the answer to all of those would have Been chris chris chris chris and chris and she still would have gave him the speech about be blinded for a while but then realizing he was what she needed! I could be soooo wrong and we will never find out!!! Regardless I support chres and im glad they are happy and in love now!

I agree with you, I think that Chris was always F1.Muslady wrote:I believe Chris was always F1 because of his dates and strategic roses (group date). Even if he weren't Des would have realized she was doing all the work in the Brooks relationship and all her crises were solved and dealt with by her rock, Chris. She also would have realized how much easier her relationship flowed with Chris vs Brooks and Drew. I agree with that too. I do think that he handled the whole situation best, and for all we know, there may be many discussions between Des and Chris that we were'nt privy to as they are sitting on the cutting room floor as to where their relationship stood along the way. I do think that Des wasn't as confussed about who she was going to choose as some would believe.Norcalgal wrote:I think the key to Chris' understanding of what went down with Brooks is 2 things:

Auntie, if you don't mind I'd like to continue this conversation on the Brooks Discussion Thread which is NOT a fan thread. I'm going to post your quote there.
