Now that the disappointment is getting easier to deal with I don't think Brooks and Des would have lasted.  Des wants to get married now and it does not matter who the groom is.  Brooks would have wanted to take it slow and see how things went.  After all he was in love with his last girlfriend and dated over 2 years and were just starting to talk marriage.

That's the nature of the show...go back and watch Ben and Ashley during their LCD and tell me if you could believe watching those scenes she was madly in love with JP.

As for the Chris stuff, I think she wrote the poem out of appreciation for the two Chris had already written to her. The 1on1 time during dodgeball was orchestrated by Chris and TPTB not Des, the sketches I will give you (albeit the same thing Zak did for her). I think she definitely had feelings for Chris - in fact i believe that she was falling for him. But she was already in love with Brooks. However, now yes she seems to be love with Chris. Its easy to fall in love especially when its a great guy like Chris and he loves that much! Time will tell if they will be a successful couple but they seem to have a good shot!

I just thought that it was extremely telling that Des gave Chris the Dodge Ball group date rose instead of Brooks since he was the one that got injured for his efforts.

I don't think it was telling at all. Des already admitted with every date she went on she WISHED it was with Brooks and we also know she fell for Brooks early. He was on meds and didn't have a chance to shower. I think it was good thing he didn't get that group date. Appropriate actually considering the circumstance.

I see this is a thought carried by many, but IMO, it was a thing said in the heat of the moment during Brooks breakdown and leaving.  I really don't know how much weight something like that can hold when it is said during a time of stress and emotion like that.  As far as Brooks not getting "that date"; he was on that date and didn't get the date rose.  Going by the look on his face when she gave it to Chris, IMO, he really thought that rose would of been his and since it wasn't, that is why it was telling, IMO.

Blah blah blah! Chris was F2 until Des' true F1 bowed out. Simple really. No need for flowery words or explanations. It was what it was.

I guess some will see it that way, but facts are, she chose to accept the proposal from Chris.  Has left her beloved southern California to move to Seattle with Chris and is really happy with him so I really don't see how Brooks's F1 status is in debate.  It is obvious that it is Chris according to Des as she did choose him and did fall in love with him.

She took the fast track to validate her Second choice. The media knows it and so do many others. We can tit for tat all day long but the fact will remain, Chris was Des' second choice. You cannot spin that away. We all saw it .

You say we all saw it -----problem is, some didn't see it the way the Brooks fans did. I was VERY neutral all season and just sleuthing out what we were given in caps, editing, etc with airport visits and busy times on twitter; NONE of that added up to Brooks being F1. Therefore, I began sleuthing out who else it might be and it was obvious how much she did feel for Chris.

Seems he has to be in Denver for a reason. He seems to be going by himself.

OK I know I might be   but I saw a lot more to each week between Des and Brooks than what has been written (skip over this if you are totally over Brooks having feelings for Des):

1. Hollywood sign- best 1st date ever "Can get any better than this?" "Hang on to your seat belts...this is gonna be a awesome ride"
2. Dodgeball -broken finger, he decides to come back because he knows he won't have other time that week, she takes him aside for private time tells him she missed him, he missed her too "OK...kiss me" how could anybody forget that??? Chris gets the rose but I wonder if she really wanted to give it to Brooks but felt she needed to  spread the roses around.
3.Munich-James drama but D and B have private time while the drama is happening downstairs. During their talk he says he feels good and is more emotionally involved, Des "I'm emotionally involved". She sits in front of him between his legs and he bends forward to kiss her. Sledding group date, all very playful. In B and D private time he tries to reassure her, by being in the moment and soaking it all in....she pulls him in for that passionate kiss.
He didn't think the James drama affected him and D. relationship and he really wanted to get the group date rose...he got it and was happy because getting the rose validated their relationship. I think this is where B. pulled D. aside before the rose ceremony. It was in previews but not shown on the show. They both looked very happy (sheepish) on their return.
4.Barcelona-soccer games-cute moments between them, whispering he joked about the "athletic lingerie" D was wearing, pictures of them running together, looked smitten when she first greeted him
5. Maderia- he brought up finding out words to describe where there relationship was at B."I want to find out more about that" D "so do I". He said he really enjoyed their 1:1's because he liked the road trips. In the clouds he talked about questions of what could happen after the show, discussions like where they would live, she said something about finding out about if it was working and he says,"it is working". "I can't imagine anyone better to share this moment with.....moments that take your breath away make you realize the things that are really important." Dinner he talked about the importance of family and got kind of teary. She said first and foremost it was important if he wanted her to meet his family...if he saw potential there. They talked about her going into a run and him jogging. He seemed pleasantly surprised with where she was at. "your running......I like it". Meeting his family was a big step. VO "I don't bring that many girls to meet my family but if we are going to see if we will move to the next step it would be important for her to meet my family". D."Would you want for me to meet your family?"  B. "i you decided you wanted to meet my family, I would love for you to meet them ...all of them." Fireworks, kissing and one of my favorite scenes was D describing with her hand motions the fireworks of B kisses. This girl is in love....
6.HTD-B sees D "yes" D"I'll skip to you" B "I'll run....I've missed you, where have you been all my life?" "Right here". Lots of kissing. Picnic, special moments, most important of all was D meeting his family, he talked of seeing her for brief times and wanting to explore his feelings which was hard when then she was gone again. The cute ducks "Do you think they met like we did?" then they take on water. His favorite date just together on a Sunday afternoon. His family was warm and funny and really seemed to like Des. I think D. fit right in. Brooks talked about D sense of humor, they could hang together, she saw special moments in little things and she saw the best in people. He talked to his mom about being vulnerable to fall in love and walls coming down with D. and being surprised  to where they were at. He was pleasantly surprised at how well it all went. He walks her out saying he feels closer to the union of marriage with D than he has ever been and doesn't want for her to go.
7.Then what happens?!?

I think he got freaked out with the pressure of a proposal...especially thinking that's what Des wanted...and bolted. He probably thought she was conflicted and Chris or Drew were ready to give her what she wanted.

OK, I'm done now and feel a lot better. Doesn't change the ending but I saw very special intimate interactions between them all the way through.

Chris writes poems, I've just written a book. Sorry so long....

I am right with you all the way to #7... I think that 7 is something we may never know, and for me I'm getting to point that it really doesn't matter.  I know what I saw, and I know what I heard, and there is no denying that Des fell in love with Brooks.  She told us over and over and over.  and I have no doubt that Brooks was within a hands reach of falling in love with her, but not in that time frame. still I believe that had she been single at the end of it, he might have wanted to explore where things might have gone.  at that point he might have said, eh... not for me, or she is the love of my life... Des might have said, eh... not for me after all.  but we will never know... Des blew any chance of Brooks changing his tune when all was said and done by going with her #2 guy, Chris. she knows that I believe, Brooks made it obvious with the blown away tweets and pictures and no longer following her on twitter.  

now, if it's ok with the rest of you, I'll join that sisterhood of the traveling pant-less Brooks... oh did I get that wrong?  just in case... i'm not sure there are any pants on here or not... so we don't forget

I have to agree with the bolded in a way. Love Desiree, but seems not be the type that would work with Brooks. He gets hotter and more awesome by the day.

I think Des will say a lot of things to justify how quickly she went from the broken heart of Brooks to accepting Chris' proposal. I think she loved Brooks "I love you ...you're the only one I can say that to". "I was conflicted because when I was on dates I wanted to be on dates with you. I wanted to give my heart to you".

Now she talks about how important the last two weeks are...it was really 5-7 days from the time Brooks left until Chris' proposal. Think about that. It would have been much more believable if she would have said  as much as I want to walk away from here with a ring on it, it's been such an emotional time, maybe it would be best if we date for a month or two and then ask me again. No, she talks about how things are "accelerated" in the bubble and it's totally reasonable that she can be in love with Brooks, fall out of love with Brooks and then in love with Chris in less than one week. Just don't buy it.

She can explain away all she wants what happened but it was Brooks that she wanted and if he would have stayed he would have gotten the final rose.

I agree.. but her option at that point was to reject the proposal of the guy she wanted to give it a try with. No way TPTB were letting her stop him from proposing. She had no good options. Save face for herself or reject the guy that loves her and she wants to try with. Very bad choices. IMO she loved how Brooks made her feel about herself.. more interesting, witty, creative.. but she would have always felt like it was an ongoing audition to be good enough. Brooks saw she wasn't a match and made the right choice. I have no idea if she can resolve that, but she "settled" for who she is and not what she aspires to be. I think they are a good match if she can let that go.
