perfect for them... "I Choose You"
Get real. The show keeps playing that song, because it's the final couples theme song. They are playing it again and again for a reason not just for the heck of it. They are going to basically start trying to sell them as a couple.
atem, I must me tone deaf... the only time I have heard this song on the show was on Des and Brooks' first date on the bridge. am I wrong about that?
Yes, they only played 'I Choose You' one time. As for Chris, they basically play it on every date he has with Desiree. Thus, they have a THEME song and Brooks doesn't.
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

That, too, would be shocking And that's the one I fear.
This whole season has been at Brooks' expense because this whole season Des has made it about him.
I agree with your point, too, BarbB222. They've been working so diligently and hard to hide this ending, to make it look like she chooses no one and that Brooks is gone for good. After what he said, it'd be shocking, out of left field and make no sense to most people if he returned and proposed. What happens with Brooks is the secret they seem to be protecting even at the expense of Brooks (once again). I hope that's the one we see. I hope, I hope.
What??? Now it is DES' fault that Brooks is conflicted, has left her, and is making her upset?? Consider re-thinking that concept. Brooks could have handled the situation much classier than he did. If, indeed, he knew that he was not feeling it after his HTD, he never should have accepted the rose....why take a spot away from someone who actually DOES want a life with her?? Oh, I forgot -- he wanted that free trip to Antigua!!
First of all, the bolded part. I meant that Des has always singled Brooks out to the producers so they made the show about him. What I said bore no comment to how Brooks felt and acted himself.
Brooks handled that tough situation very well. He went out of his way to get the advice from his mother and sister about how to go about talking to Des. He didn't want to hurt her. He had a talk with CH for the same reason. He was trying to find the best way possible to let her down. He didn't express himself very well to her, but then I think he was still confused. Especially when she started telling him she loved him and was only conflicted because she wanted to be with him. She'd given him other things to chew on. It is true, why didn't she tell him earlier? He could've used that info. He was being accurate there, and real, like he always has been on this show. I don't know if it would've changed anything, but he probably would've gone about things differently. He seriously didn't think he was breaking her heart THAT bad. He said so. He sincerely thought that she was torn between guys.
It is all heartbreaking.
The fact that he did linger around so long is a sign that he still had strong feelings for her at that time and despite his words.
He handled that tough situation about as well as anyone could and I hope he handles the next tough situation just as well.
OMG!! We will obviously have to agree to disagree here.
Per the bolded:
1. Brooks did not choose to have a sit down with CH -- Chris arrived at his door unannounced.
2. He HOPED that she was torn...as he said in the limo, he wanted her to be in love with one of the other guys.
3. How are you so sure that he "lingered" because he was so into Des?? Your speculation is only that. He is immature and has not handled plenty of things as a man. What mature adult needs to describe his relationship in terms of "adjectives" like walking, running, etc???? If he were self aware he would have been able to relay his true feelings of conflict to Des. Lord knows, she might have still loved him. The way he chose to "deal" with it was the way middle schoolers act -- I'm surprised that he didn't say that they were "seeing each other" or "going out".
Surely Des missed the red flags -- so did plenty of people here!! It is humorous to watch people "fall for" someone when they don't even know him. I can understand (sort of) that Des missed the signs -- she was there to hold him, kiss him, do whatever he decided was OK with him...but it's another to so closely align with a ghost on television.

What song do they keep playing. I have to admit I do not notice the music they play.

I don't see this scenario at all. She just told Brooks (and the world!) that she was conflicted NOT because of which guy to choose, but because she ONLY wanted to go on dates with him throughout the entire process. For her to turn around in a week's time and accept Chris's proposal because he loves her and has declared his devotion in contrast to Brooks just makes no sense. She is a strong girl, is proud to say she is and is independent, and for that to happen with Chris would convey utter weakness. You cannot be in love with someone, then open your heart and accept a proposal to someone else in a week's time - that would be laughable and turn the show into a complete joke with the masses.
I truly believe if there is an engagement next Monday, it's with no one other than Brooks, period.

No. Brooks doesn't have a constant theme song, but he does have that "I Choose You" song at the start, and he does always have songs, some of them quite unique, and there's the possibility of wrapping it up with "I Choose You", like a nice end to a story come full circle.
I see your point, though, in everything: that they're trying to sell Chris now. That they will bring Brooks back so Des can reject him and save face with the TV audience and Chris (at Brooks' expense). Although I can't imagine them being able to get Brooks to do it without free will. But even if I see that Chris and Des is for sale and legit, that she could go with Chris, that she could fit with Chris, I'd never buy it, as far as I just don't like them together. Separately, they're fine. They may be perfect for each other. I can accept that. I just, personally, wouldn't like the pairing; and they can ride off in the sunset and I can completely forget about both of them. I just don't want them to hurt and embarrass Brooks. That's all I ask, but I'm afraid I'm asking too much.

re the bold statement above... if it was not arranged, why was the front door left ajar? go back and watch and if you can, put on closed captioning... not everything that's being commented on this message board is being said. it's like seeing an accident and each person has a differing view of what went down. when you read the words, it makes a lot of sense. and as far as Brooks lingering... most men (even women) would have been out of there long before he was. he was seeing things from a different point when she confessed her love.

Awwww, atem. I'm trying to remain hopefully optimistic. A lot of times I look at the glass as half full in order to prepare myself for the worst and that way when it works out, I'm even more thrilled. I would be most happy if Des is with Brooks because that's her heart's desire and his, but if somehow she is with Chris now and she's happy like her brother Nate says, then that is ok because it's her journey, it's her life and I would like her to be happy and all that she went through to be worth it in the end.atem wrote:latergator wrote:Piper61 wrote:Maybe they'll play Andy Grammar's "I Choose You" for Brooks.atem wrote:Plus, the show keeps playing that Matt White (or whatever his name is) song for Chris S. I think it's ridiculous either way. In 5 days she is in love with Chris and accepts a proposal or in 5 days Brooks goes from leaving to proposing. It's just nutty all around.

True. I guess she could, but it is indeed a far stretch and kind of laughable. She may do it, but once again she will embarrass herself.
I think Brooks is the only one who can save her total embarrassment now, unless she just walks away.
But she doesn't walk away, does she? Should she be considered a silly girl just for that fact? Since she doesn't walk away, she better have prayed that Brooks comes back and gives her an out.
I think, if anything, CH is bitter at Brooks that his leaving put ALL of them in that silly-looking situation, thanks to Des.
