Maybe the Machine decided to do the right thing for once and treat someone who served our country with respect, since he actually didn't do anything "wrong".

Sigh. It would be nice to think TPTB did the "right" thing; I think more likely they did the 'we better not try and make a VET look bad or it will come back and bit us in the ass" thing.
