I'm gonna say Sean picking Cat has absolutely nothing to do with the ratings this season. The combination of it going against The Voice, having a lackluster cast, being on during summer, and being generally boring are to blame.
Don't agree at all.

Must say I agree w canyonvue re: being generally boring comment. I am enjoying Des' much more than Sean's. We all like different things. I will agree that I don't think TPTB have done a good job editing this season. JMO.

I have to agree with this. I do not think the ratings had anything to do with who Sean picked. There have been plenty of seasons when the lead did not pick the person the majority of the audience thought he/she should. The next season's ratings were not affected by that. I also have to agree with the reasons given above for the low ratings. It is a boring season. As much as I liked Des last season, both she and the guys in general are lackluster. imo.

I agree that it is kind of blah and I also think it is because of the edit. I read on here and just about everyone's favorites have had scenes cut to bits, or little snippets only. I often feel I am coming in on the middle, end of a conversation. But they spend endless time on Brian and his gf, James' date, Mikey and Michael who I like, but am tired of their obsession with Ben, who I really don't like but am sick of seeing so much. All the early 1:1 guys except for Brooks will be gone by next week. Jesse C has an interview on here somewhere saying TPTB basically control who goes on what dates until they reach the F4. I know some of those early guys are sweethearts, but they are not compelling tv. They need to let us get to know the guys rather than focus on the trumped up drama. I think they don't trust that we would be entertained by that. I loved parts of the Mr America date. But again, they didn't show us everyone's talents, questions etc. I'll bet there are a lot of cute/funny snippets on the cutting room floor that we didn't see either. IDK, I am really shaking my head at the edit this time especially.

Count me in this group. I really struggled to stay tuned on Monday. Nothing wrong with anyone on the show. Just nothing all that interesting either. I loved Jan and Manny on Monday as they were very sweet, but this isn't a show about a long time married couple. 5 minutes of them would have been more than enough. TPTB don't seem to be able to find anything in the hours and hours of filming that they want to show the viewing audience and it is affecting the ratings. There are a million excuses that could be given but honestly, I believe the formula is stale and they just keep recycling the same storylines. They need some new writers with fresh ideas. Yes I said writers because I believe most of this show is storyboarded. Set up for a particular ending. Not saying they chose the F1, but how they get to the finale is all producer directed.

Per bolded, this is exactly what I think, nothing to do with Emily's or Sean' season, the formula is getting old... For those who watch Bachelor Canada, it was a much better show without all the same drama that Fleiss is always throwing at us, and I enjoyed Bachelor Canada a lot more ...Peppermom wrote:ja1968 wrote:umngirl wrote:BarbB222 wrote:Just a thought. I agree with these points you make. Endless is time spent on things that really don't matter much at all when you reach the end. The whole premise of the show (or should be) is about the lead dating/getting to know/finding love with one suitor out of 25 by show's end. I am a fan of the show, and as long as it's on, I'm watching, but I am so sick of the same limited view they actually allow us to see season in and season out. I wish there was a poll that asked viewers what it is they are really tuning in for, where they wish the focus to be directed. Do they mostly tune in for trainwrecks and drama? For the relationships formed with the contestants amongst themselves? For the idea that true love will be found, and in so doing, they tune in to see each conversation/date between lead and contestant? Personally speaking, I don't tune in for the trainwrecks and drama. I don't think the majority of viewers do. I believe the majority really do want to be able to connect with each contestant based upon their interactions with the lead, and for an eventual happy ending and love story. Why can't they just give us that for a season, and cut out all of the shenanigans?! They do cut out some of the really important stuff and if viewers comments about deleted scenes is any indication, the majority are all disappointed they didn't get to see that stuff on the show.pavalygurl wrote:BarbB222 wrote:canyonvue wrote:umngirl wrote:BarbB222 wrote:Just a thought. Wish that I could watch Bachelor Canada if that is the case. I don't even think the problem here is that there is not enough of the good stuff to fill two hours, I think it's because Fleiss and Co. just wish to keep doing the same stuff they have always done thinking that it's entertaining to all. I don't need shocking, etc. I'm simple, just give me the unfolding love story between however many contestants the lead is falling for until he/she finally chooses the one they feel the most for.Fleurdesel wrote:Per bolded, this is exactly what I think, nothing to do with Emily's or Sean' season, the formula is getting old... Re: Episode 5 - 6/24 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers
All this feedback shows there are valid reasons viewership decreases in general and not only season specific. ITA about the repeated storylines. I did notice that after the Bachelorette about two million switched away from the next show Mistresses. I know in other seasons I didn't really get into the show until mid airing. Especially in this day of spoilers. Why waddle thru early on when we know for the most part, the F1 will be hidden while the F2-F4 relationships has to be developed to portray how hard it was for the Lead to decide. Does get old. The one rooting for the F1 are desperate to see the love story but are denied until later stages or live only on glimpses.

I agree with those who think that the franchise is just getting old because I feel the same way. In fact, I am not as interested as I used to be. The fun for me is talking with you all here about it! :) JMO

The 2-on-1 hottug date takes place at Tegernsee Lake. The night portion is nearby at the Egerner Alm at the Park-Hotel Egerner Höfe.
