Don't you just love how excuses are made for the low ratings -- happened for American Idol as well. Truth is that people are simply not watching these old and predictable shows anymore. Both desperately need a shake-up or none of us will be watching at all because they will be cancelled!!

You're right kripdk. I was curious and checked IMDB to see when Pete Scalettar started working on TB. And it was during the Shane Show (Matt Grant), to me the first obviously setup, scripted, overproduced season. And since then they've run the same BS format into the ground and no one's buying it anymore. Or bothering to watch.

Either TPTB knew about this self-serving marketing BS or they're being punked like we are and unfortunately Des was. Fleiss should just rename The Bachelorette "The Show with a Setup Utah Winner" if he can't come up with a better script!!!

So if there's a contestant that comes for Salt Lake that wins its an automatic obvious setup simply because Jef and Michelle were from there as well? I get the Jef-Michelle-Emily connection but Des doesn't know any of them so...why "plant" Brooks? Jef was the fall guy for Emily (w/ help from Michelle) so that she could pick him in the end and have a "winner". The reason it worked is because Emily was obviously in on it. Anyone can see Des was thrilled to do the show and emotional at the thought so I don't know why TPTB needed to setup a "winner" for her when she will obviously pick someone on her own.

BTW, I think if we are going to discredit contestants based on their location we really ought to be looking at Houston, TX because every season at least 2 contestants are from there going as far back as I can remember. Chicago has also produced a few winners so we should probably call them into questions as well.

I think this is a small Marketing firm in Lehi, Utah realizing that they can advertise themselves given all of the interest Brooks will generate from a show being seen by MILLIONS of viewers every week. Its really smart marketing, IMO. And any suave marketing firm worth a dime would do it. I've worked in Digital Sales & Marketing for over a decade and we call this one a no-brainer. :Nod:

Not skipping your post - it does make a lot of sense and watching this show without those rose-colored glasses seems to be a pre-req :Smiley:.
I always like to hear these POVs - it opens my eyes just a tad.

The only reason that I don't quite (YET) agree that this is 1f.2 is that right from his intro and Episode 1 where it was clear that the producers "arranged" a private convo with Emily - screemed of a setup. So far I have not seen that with Brooks. Of course it remains to be seen what tptb have up their sleeve.

Nate does seem to meet the Final 2 guys, because Wet Paint says he shows up twice on the show. Interesting!

TPTB must've either thought Des needed lots of encouragement towards the end (the girls in Madeira and Nate in LA after the HTDs) or they needed some filler.

Finding myself in agreement here about both SLC and Houston!! If it is simply too tough for Fleiss to find new personnel and new storylines (he's already given away the pre-requisite girlfriend at home), then possibly he needs to take some time off. Ratings are speaking loudly.

Don't forget Seattle! Jason and Catherine! Lol. We can go on all night here.
