Episode 7 - 5/21 - Ready For Love - Discussion - Spoilers

Talk about a boring show! I felt like we barely had any time with any one of the final 12 girls and the men. And the editing was weird too with Allie, Jenna, and Alba being somewhat questionable to the families.

I'm glad to see 1/2 of the Crazy Kentucky duo is gone, though I wish it'd been Allie instead. I didn't like how she played the victim to the girls' comments (heck, if Angela was agreeing with them, albeit reluctantly, what they were saying had to be true) and then she played Ben at the end. Though he reassured her with words, I just didn't see him as into her kissing outside of the booths as she was. I could really care less who Ben chooses but I still like Tarryn the best out of the remaining 3.

Switching gears - Was anyone else surprised by the conversation Tim was having with Sara about the kissing? It might not have been a big deal except that he mentioned it in an interview. Would he really have that particular conversation with someone if it wasn't related to them?

It's interesting b/c there's such a stark contrast being drawn between Jenna & Sara. Jenna was painted as immature compared to the other girls, someone who is fun (not Hailey fun) and who he's got a great physical connection with but not someone we're seeing substance with. Sara, on the other hand, is the opposite but then we have their conversation about not kissing and see him kissing her hand while she says she wants to kiss him so bad. Then, to top it all off, we've got his parents saying Sara was #1 in their book. Would they have kept that in if Jenna had been chosen? [And to be fair, before anyone mentions the fiance, Amber told her to use that as an example of how she's committed to her relationships.] This is the 2nd week in a row that the matchmakers have told Jenna that girls are catching up with her. I don't think it's quite a slam dunk for her at this point...

IDK... The only thing I do know is that in 2 weeks, we'll hopefully have some answers to what went on after the show ended. THEN, I'll be interested in Ernesto and Ben's choices. :giggle:

About Tim's family opinion of Jenna - it's not that they have negative PO, they probably just seem uncertain because of her youth (experience), they might have some perplexity could that relationship with their son work and stand the tests (that obviously long lasting love and marriage didn't), but, talking from my experience that was so ridiculously similar, parents like that eventually come across. Because only over time, with their son being in the relationship, would they be able to overcome their doubts and once seeing him happy, satisfied, there is no personal preference that cannot be changed.

I'm sure they loved Jenna, as they loved all the girls. It's the editing and the way TPTB showed it to us that has me questioning some things.

As Matt said early on in the season to Hailey (I think), you don't mention certain things b/c you don't want to put that thought in someone's head if they hadn't thought about it before. So why would TPTB show Tim's sister saying he'd told her he never wanted to date someone her age (and Jenna is younger) b/c she'd be like a kid sister. None of us thought of her that way until it was mentioned... They've really been hitting us over the head with this all season. Why? At this point, if it was her hurdle, they should be showing her overcoming it and yet it's still being brought up. Perhaps her parents will settle that question next week. We'll have to see...

According to Amber she thought that the family really like Jenna and she thinks they are are an amazing match when asking if Jenna is feeling it (love) yet. Thinking Jenna is still in the lead with the MMs.

I agree about charity work sounding better, but I'm just shy of 30 and I can't even say that's one of my past times. :hidingchair She had a hard time communicating I think what some of her hobbies are. She probably enjoys party planning and or cooking/baking for such events.

Anyway, I'm glad she went with something quirky because I think that's how Tim is. I think if she mentioned charity work I would have thought it sounded fake and forced because that's not her... she's the girl who makes up holidays! She was just like, yeah, I celebrate crazy holidays... deal with it. LOL I liked when Tim told her he wish so badly it was Talk like a Pirate Day.

She stayed true to who she really was, and didn't try to sell herself as someone that she isn't. I agree with you lovely ladies that it came across juvenile though. Probably should have gone with working out, or hanging out with friends, or going to the lake (Tim would have liked that one).

ETA: If I ever up on a reality dating show (not probable since there is a DH in the picture) my past time is going to be; chatting on message boards with my cyber friends about reality dating shows while stalking the contestants on Twitter, FB, and Instagram. LOL If that doesn't get me eliminated...

Okay, can I just say one thing in Jenna's defense? She just graduated from college a month before going on the show!! What were your college pastimes? Studying, maybe a part time job, blowing off steam on the weekends. In that sense, it does it show Jenna is young and in the process of discovering who she is, but as she told Tim at the beginning, she wants to do this with someone by her side. At least, she's being honest. :hidingchair

She should definitely have said that she's loves party planning - Tim's mom and sister are event planners. She should have known that before she left home to do the show.
She could have given her yearly Halloween bash as an example of the fun she likes to have with celebrations. I'm not suggesting she be someone other than who she is. But I know plenty of twenty somethings who spend free time playing tennis, running, salsa dancing, skiing, traveling, volunteer for political campaigns, community theater groups, etc. etc. She does come off as pretty young sometimes.

noob - if I were the MM or decision maker - I'd keep you there forevah - you little stalker you. A woman who can do intensive research on an individual is a woman who should always get the guy in my world.

Fact: IF Jenna were more of Facebook stalker (like myself) she would have had a better answer. It's too bad she didn't learn that valuable life lesson from noobsleuth before going on this show. :P

One thing that I did notice in this episode is that each of the three girls, who some think are the F1s, was shown to have an awkward embarrassing moment with the parents.

Angela -- having to tell his family that she was saving herself for marriage. The initial editing made it look like the Mom was uncomfortable with that. Then that situation was actually shown in a positive light as the episode continued...but doubt/tension was created in that first moment. (Only watched it once a couple of hours ago, so correct me if my impression is wrong.)

Shandi -- when she complimented Ernesto's mother about her cooking. The editing made it look like Shandi put her foot in her mouth. The was a pregnant pause, and then in a PI, Shandi swears (bleeped out). As the episode continued, everyone, including Shandi, had a good laugh.

Jenna -- she actually had two moments. When she referred to Tim's father as the old man and when she talked about "Talk Like A Pirate Day". I was cringing when they teased each segment earlier, but when I saw the actual flow of conversation, I didn't think it was that bad. Everyone seemed to have a genuine laugh about it.

If these girls are in fact the F1s, they all seemed to get equal treatment by the shows editors.

Did anyone else notice Tim and his parents had on different clothes when they were with Sara? A different day?

Yes. They were dress as if they had plans for later the night. Noticed that Sara was dressed like going from the office.

I'm still for Jenna to move from being just the physical edit. Is there a storyline with Tim and Jenna???? If so, it got stuck on physical and hasn't moved. So how does Jenna become F1????
