Thanks for the xfinity interview link , happygolucky. I was really struck by this:

What was the hardest elimination?

Sometimes they chose girls because they felt a connection wasn’t being made, but sometimes the matchmakers chose two girls for elimination because they could tell I was falling for both. They said, “You are going to have to choose one, because if you don’t, you’re going to prevent yourself from falling for either one. You will always have both of them in front of you and you will be guarded, which will prevent you from falling for either one.” Essentially, they needed me to send one girl home so I could fall in love with the other. They felt that I never would have gotten 100 percent with one of the girls if the other was there.

I cant help but feel that the matchmakers were taking a tremendous risk by doing that. How on earth could they be confident that he wouldnt be eliminating the "wrong" one of the two ?

Another reason that I think Ben really succeeded in finding love was that he really took the matchmaking to heart.

What was it like working with a matchmaker?

I had never done it before. It was a little nerve-wracking at first because a part of you wants to be very specific but then another part of you doesn’t want to come off as too picky. But then they said, “Say everything you think you want because ultimately that helps us identify somebody you are really going to be crazy about.”

Adding to that is that he has alot of self awareness. He is a perfectionist who always wanted to be the best at everything he did. But he said, at 1:40, in the interview , " that drives from the sense that I didnt want to be inadequate." Wow. And also I see that self awareness here:

What surprised you most about the experience?

What surprised me most was that throughout it, I realized I was more often getting in my own way than not. I think it is very unusual for anyone to realize that they are sabotaging themselves because they never thought like that. For me, I was so specific about the type of girl I wanted that ultimately that was making it very difficult for me to find a person I would fall in love with.

Then Tracy said , that if the "grown man who's trying to be perfect chooses the wife, it's not going to be as good of a marriage as if the vulnerable , 12 year old boy finds someone that he connects with. " I know he initially sees Angela as perfect, though she totally denies it and tries to put him at ease. I'll be interested in following his relationships with both Angela and Allie.

I must give props to Klisack, because before her I didn't really put much thought into Ben's story. Her introduction made me think what i like or don't like about him, "his" girls, from the beginning tormented story with Kari and possible final choice in Angela. If any of you listened to AfterBuzz - their description of Kari is exact feeling I have of her - while Angela is still too stiff and closed for me to "like" her.
It became interesting though to analyze Ben, this "perfect" guy, with great pedigree, education, profession, career and having problems to navigate through relationships. The methods matchmakers used during the show were interesting, also to me Tiger, because we can see now, how much "a chance" = "master plan" = "right moment" plays the part in all of our stories, cuz who's to say that the girl he let go wasn't the right for him, maybe she could be just as "perfect match" ... but we'll never know. You just hope for the best.

I totally agree. I think Ben is sill trying to control everything and Tracy had a brilliant point about the 12 year old boy. Basically experience with your heart and let your mind go. Since these girls have been screened by the matchmakers Ben can feel comfortable that the professionals thought that 1: The girls are healthy emotionally and ready for a relationship, 2) have good intentions for being on the show, and 3) They are good matches for Ben. All Ben has to do is relax and see who he connects with. Stop over thing so much. I dont know what do you guys think? Am I off?

I think this does look like Angela. Isn't she really tall? I think they might have just tweaked with the hair color a little bit.

I mean no offense, but does Angela's body look Barbie-ish to you, as it does to me? Every time she has this shorts/skirts, she's so skinny in legs, like 2 toothpicks holding the upper body, which is still skinny, but curvy in right places. That's what I meant in some post ago about her strange disproportions. just silly thinking.

Sanlee, yes, I'm pretty sure that's Angela, like some Twitter evidence indicate that she and Ben were often a lot in same places (NY many times, SF, LA). Don't recall when somebody reported his interview, where he said that he cannot confirm of deny whether what we see is engagement or not - so my guess is, editing production plays tricks on us.

Throwing out a random thought with no basis, but could it be possible that the so called proposal scene was filmed later? Meaning that when the filming concluded Ben and his F1 were merely dating, but as time went on he realized he wanted to propose. So, they went back and filmed it later with a more reasonable time frame for them to get to know one another and get engaged. I'm inclined to say no because the photo looks too summer-y, and I don't think this show had that big of a budget...or if they had a big budget, they spent it all on that crazy set!
