And then the 3rd week in Oct is school violence awareness week. source

Before we become numb to these horrific acts of violence, I implore each of us who is touched by them to, not only offer prayers, BUT TO DO SOMETHING.

You can donate blood, send a donation to Ellen for victims and their families, become political an advocate for gun laws, you could adopt a family and send them loving letters of care and concern, take homemade cookies to the police station. There are so many ways to take action when violence and turmoil, though manmade or through nature, affect so many.

My son and I went to LV a few years ago and stayed at Mandalay Bay.   

We stayed at Mandalay Bay couple of times and many times around this part of the Strip and the next trip is booked for December. I'm still in shock. Still cannot move my attention anywhere else. Still cannot digest what happened.

My son and I went to LV a few years ago and stayed at Mandalay Bay.  My heart breaks for the victims and their families.  

Mandalay Bay is pretty much the first hotel you see while landing in Vegas. My heart goes out to those who lost family members and to those injured. I hope and pray that the craziness stops.

In another news item, there are reports that Tom Petty (from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) suffered a cardiac arrest and has no brain activity, according to TMZ.

I was changing the channels last night before bed and saw the reports about the Vegas shooting. Couldn't fall asleep right away.. so heart-breaking. prayers for all.

Also prayers for Tom Petty as well.

Victim's fund goal has been raised to $3.5M and is currently (8 am) at $3.2M from a mere 46k people. I was so touched by the long lines of people waiting to give blood and others bringing them chairs, food, drink, umbrellas to make the wait tolerable. This is what I want in my world - caring people, who put others comfort above their own.

Be safe if you're travelling, and enjoy the beautiful weather in most parts of Ontario. Alberta, I hope you are all safe with the amount of snowfall you've had.

Prayers for all the Fire Fighters, in Europe, and North America who are constantly battling out of control fires. Horrible images out of Santa Rosa. It's heartbraking to see so many families loosing everything they have due to fires.
