@motheroffive Thank you for the update - scary times indeed. I can only wish for you and everyone else in Houston that life gets back to as normal a state as possible as soon as possible.

My college roommate's sister lives in Houston but was out of town on business when it hit. She knew her home flooded but came home to find her neighbors had removed all the carpeting from her home (a big pile on the front lawn) and stacked the furniture to mitigate more damage. I am in awe of how everyone seems to be pitching in and helping out.

And I feel it is our duty as compassionate humans to extend a hand to those affected, in any way we can. And bless Mattress Mack - what a guy! If I lived in TX, that would be my first store to support!

Mack is the greatest! There are people who work for him that he gave jobs to after they stayed at Gallery Furniture as evacuees from Katrina. He very quietly does this always. So glad he is getting national recognition.

Proud of my city and my state. Everyone is pitching in to help in some way. As I heard several times from people during the news coverage - we are Texans, this is what we do.

Irma is massive. Praying for this front to move quickly south and deflect her away from the coastline.

Thoughts and prayers to all that will be effected and in Irma's path.  Hoping and praying for a turn and keeping it off the coast line, but even then the impact of her will be felt on land I fear based on her size.

The Keys are starting mandatory evacuation starting Wednesday.  (Source)
