Maybe there are surprises for Emily because she didn't know that she will be in Des' season??

Ha - joke's on all of us. They bought off Des with a job at Vera Wang after a sequester in Palm Springs. They bought off Vera Wang with the promise to name yet another episode of a tv show for her (see: The West Wing), and they bought off Emily with the promise of DWTS. Win/win/win.
