The Bachelorette is just a week away, and thank goodness, because I've been missing my weekly rose fix (doesn't Sean Lowe's Bachelor feel like forever ago?)
Anyway, Desiree Hartsock is the lucky lady at the center of the show this season, and that just makes things even more exciting considering how brilliant she was on The Bachelor. She spoke to reporters about her time as The Bachelorette recently, so read on to find out what she had to say about the drama among the men, whether she's pleased with her experience and much, much more:
When you were first approached about becoming The Bachelorette, did you jump at the opportunity or did it take a lot of soul searching?
"I did have to take time on my own to think about it because it is very emotional and it's a personal journey, so I needed to make sure I wanted to share that with the world."
You were really upset when you left Sean's season of The Bachelor - do you feel like you were ready to star in The Bachelorette? Did you believe in the show because of how you felt for Sean?
"Definitely. I mean, I chose to do this show because the feelings that do develop are very real. I was upset when Sean sent me home but that just showed that the emotions are real, and you really can fall for someone. But before going on the show I had already been past that and I knew that Sean and I aren't meant to be together, and I figured why not give The Bachelorette a chance?"
Did any former Bachelorettes reach out to you once you got the role on the show?
"I haven't really spoken to any one of them, just some support from Ali [Fedotowsky] via Twitter."
Your brother caused quite a stir on The Bachelor last season! Did he meet any of the guys this time around?
"My brother coming on to The Bachelorette, he actually was very supportive! And so he will meet the men."
So when your brother confronted Sean, was it specific to him or did he not agree with the show in general? And if it was the latter, what changed his mind when you agreed to The Bachelorette?
"Actually, that was a very Sean-specific conversation. It was because he saw that Sean wasn't right for me. But he is very supportive of me being able to choose and really decide what's right for me."
That first night when you meet all the men must be really overwhelming - was there ever a moment when you thought, 'What have I got myself into?'
"[Laughs] No, I was like happy - 'Look what I got into!' No, it is very overwhelming, but since I had been in their shoes I knew that they were more nervous than I was so I kind of empathised with them."
What was the biggest surprise for you on the first night with the guys?
"I was surprised by how many amazing men there were. And good looking!"
Were there any qualities you were particularly looking for in the men?
"Yeah, I mean, I was looking for someone that's going to be spontaneous and adventurous, while still being very supportive and caring. You know, someone who ultimately can understand me and be my best friend."
In your season of The Bachelor there was a lot of drama with Tierra - is there any drama among the men this season that you knew about?
"You know, there are a lot of strong yet emotional men this season, so they do stand up for themselves and that does create a lot of drama."
How did you prepare emotionally for the show?
"I mean, yes, there's going to be tears. But I really wanted to go on the show with all of my emotions being shown, so that viewers can really see where I'm coming from."
During your time on The Bachelor, there were a couple of times when you shut down a little, when you weren't sure if Sean was reciprocating your feelings. Is that different from your behavior on The Bachelorette?
"That was very circumstantial because I wasn't feeling it back from Sean, but on this entire journey I was really able to honestly put my whole heart out there and just let it happen, whatever happened. It wasn't too challenging - I feel like that was very circumstantial."
At the beginning of the show, what factors such as the distance between where you lived or the men's careers or their past relationship history were an issue for you? And did that change during the season?
"I think you do have to ask really tough questions, and I think a key part is really seeing what they were like in past relationships and really finding out if they're ready to be here and if it's going to be a serious relationship, if they're going to be ready for that. So in the beginning it was really gauging who was going to be there for the right reasons and as it continued I think that's where location and job really falls into line, because it's if you can see a future with that person."
What was the hardest question you had for the guys going into this season?
"I was straightforward. I would ask them, 'Are you ready for marriage? Are you ready for a family? Do you want kids? Where do you see your future?' And that's in order for me to really see if my future lines up with them... There wasn't necessarily a specific [question]. It was just a mixture of everything."
Would you be willing to move to wherever the love of your life lives, or would you like him to move to Los Angeles? What changes were you willing to make in your life?
"Whether it's on the show or on my day to day life, I really take love as my priority. I don't have roots anywhere, and I really do feel like home is where the heart is so I would definitely be willing to move wherever the love of my life is."
Did you end up finding love on The Bachelorette? Are you happily engaged?
"You know, the journey was incredibly emotional and it was really surprising throughout. Unfortunately I can't comment on that at this time!"
Well, are you happy with your journey overall? Are you glad you ended up deciding to star on the show, or was it not the experience you were hoping for?
"No, I am glad that I did decide to do the show, and I was satisfied with my decisions throughout. I followed and trusted my heart the best I could. I feel like I stayed true to myself throughout."
How was the experience overall for you?
"Overall, the experience was definitely an emotional journey and there's a lot of surprises. I mean, overall I think it's a journey of love, and love isn't always going to be happy. There's going to be ups and downs. But ultimately you get through it all!"
The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 27 on ABC

Why do they keep acting like that's a new interview?
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

‘Bachelorette’ Desiree Hartsock Sounds Alarmingly Sad When Talking About Her Season
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Sounds like there's trouble in consistently wet-pavement paradise. Season 9 Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock attended a press call to promote her show, which premieres a week from today, but wasn't her smiley, bubbly self. According to those on the scene, Des' responses to questions about the season were less than enthusiastic. In fact, she sounded sort of downtrodden over the whole thing. Uh. Oh.
USA Today reports that Des seemed shy when talking about her experience and finding love. She said:Overall, the experience was definitely an emotional journey. There were a lot of surprises. Overall, I think it's a journey of love, and love isn't always going to be happy. There's going to be ups and downs.
That doesn't sound like someone who's freshly engaged and bursting with joyful, new-love bliss. It sounds like someone who got dumped. I mean, let's be real. When your friends talk about their past relationships, they always bring up the "journey" and "how much they learned." They'd never say those things about their current relationship.
Then, just when you thought it couldn't get more bleakly ominous, Des shared:
The journey was incredibly emotional and it was really surprising throughout, so unfortunately I can't comment on that at this time.
There we go with the "journey" again. And what "surprise" is she talking about? In this context, it doesn't sound good.
Guys? I'm worried. Maybe Des was just in a weird space when she answered the questions, or maybe she's excellent at hiding what really happened, or maybe her ass got left at the altar of proposal on some desert island.
Guess we'll have to wait and see if Des' fairy-tale is more like a freaking nightmare.
What do you think about Des' cryptic "love isn't always happy" quotes?

Regarding the article above, does anyone agree with them? I sure don't. I think she looks happy and almost slipped a couple of times.
And all leads talk about how their journey was satisfying and they are happy with their decisions. They rarely ever say they are in love in their first interview back. Have they not caught along already that this is the process each season?

I don't agree. I think she's probably just adjusting to answering questions and trying to keep it neutral, thus the less "bubblyness". If she oozed all kinds of happiness, it would give it away.
Also "drama" "surprises" "journey" -- come on, key bachelor/ette press words. plus remember sean when he couldn't say a word but was obviously happy and with Catherine? Yeah, Des probably has to do the same thing.

We are talking about the 'Stir', right? That's why they post stuff like that. To get clicks. The lead says the same thing over and over. Heck, even her 'the guys are emotional and strong' or whatever is totally scripted.

This article is from the Stir *cringe*, which makes me already 100% disagree with everything they said. Des looks stunning and so happy. She's just trying to play it cool.

I saw the same on other articles too. People just don't think in her interviews that she looks happy and stuff, but I disagree.
