Desiree Hartsock - Bachelor 17 Contestant - Discussion

I like the idea of the "good girl" and also the self-made girl. She is really making her way in the world- she has a loving family (yes, even the brother) who means the world to her, but they weren't in a position to give her lots of advantages in life. She is doing it on her own. I'm delighted for her that she will have this opportunity, and I hope she finds the love of her life. I also hope that this opportunity will be able to bring her lots of other wonderful things in life- dress designing, etc. She is a person for whom the b-ette doesn't need to define who she is, but who can use the b-ette as a launching pad in her already chosen career.

avoice, how do we know she is spritual? Or is it religious? They are different to me.

Shoepie- when we were sleuthing her for Sean's season we found a lot evidence for faith. And she and Lindsay have been communicating (instagram) about going to church together some Sunday (though if they haven't already, I've got a feeling it's not going to happen for awhile). Probably the only "faith" discussions I've seen this season (and considering how big a part of Sean's life it is, it has been conspicuously absent) were with Des, most notably when Sean lets her go and he speaks of her knowing that he's been praying for clarity and didn't really have it that week. It was stated in a way that indicated they were on the same page in that regard.

To me, if you are a christian you can be either religious or spiritual. The former is one who follows the letter of the laws of God but not necessarily the spirit. Dogma and rules. The spiritual one is one who follows God in an alive faith that permeates all of life, a relationship with God. Loving God instead of 'shoulds, could've, have to's'. Make sense? Hard to say as this is a deep topic.

I liked Emily's choice of dates. I tire of the bungie jumping, rapelling and all other athletic dates. I am more of a cafe and art gallery girl. Granted that would make for a dull TV date but some seasons have been over the top. And this season was.

I would eliminate the loaned jewerly date with concert for 2, as well.

Sean's season was over the top? Seemed like the typical stuff to me. What more can people do on this show that hasn't been done?

Well, Des is into art so I could see them doing a art type date. Plus, there's an opera singer (if he makes it past night one).

Desiree comes off as a tom boy, my guess a lot of adrenal dates lots of sporting things.

Agree with the bolded plus she can dress up really nice when she wants or needs to.

I enjoy the adrenaline dates in moderation. I think there have been some good dates over the seasons so wish they'd find some of them.

I really like that coat but think it's a tad too long for Desiree. The color's good on her though.

I hope that Desiree doesn't do the bachelorette. The lead starts out loved and ends up hated.

I don't like how they do the bachelorettes make up. They are all natural beauties, but they pile the make up on like they are Tammy Fae. And don't get me started on the spider lashes.

Sorry, but she is the next Bachelorette.

I dont think they all end up being hated. Lots of people were thrilled for Ali, for Jillian and for Ashley.

I dont think any of the bachelorettes were hated. I think people just get a little sick of any lead . Also some people love them and some dont but thats the way it is with anyone.
