I worked in a daycare for a year and we the kids needed to sing this song while they washed their hands and they have to do the motions
Tops and bottoms, tops and bottoms
In between, in between
All around the middle, all around the middle
Now their clean, now their clean
It probably wasnt excacly what you are looking for but it gives you an idea
Thanks y'all!
Another question. Has anyone worked with young children from preschool to 1st grade? Do you have any suggestions for an activity to do with a polar bear theme? My teacher wants us to come up with really good hands-on activities (and activities that really teach a child something interesting about polar bears, not just making something that looks like a polar bear, .) Any ideas would be great. I have a few things in mind, but sometimes I have a one track mind, and I'd like to try something a little different. :awesome:

I work mainly with 3-4 year olds, but this should work for first graders too!! One of the coolest activities I've found to do - it's definitely a little messy , but worth it - you can talk about how the bears keep warm in the cold climates, and talk about how their fat acts as protection/insulation.
Fill a bucket with ice and water, and partially fill a few gloves (non-latex, probably if you guys are a no-latex school like most up here in Canada!) with some kind of fat - butter/shortening, or the fake fat you can buy from joke stores Make sure the kids put on gloves of their own first before putting on the fat-filled glove, and put both hands into the cold water (just a few seconds!) so they can experience the insulating properties on their own I've done it, and it's always super gross for the kids, you get some happy squeals out of it, but it also does teach them about polar bear temperature regulation You can explain it as in-depth as you want to, or if the kids are too young, it just becomes a fun messy activity with not too much cleanup!

Thanks ninu! I also found this activity online and thought it was really cool! I definately will be using it. Do you know of an interesting activity to do with children that is hands on that would teach them more about a polar bear's cold/wet habitat? It could be a snack idea or art activity. I wish I could come up with a really good idea!
Re: What is happening around you? - Thread #1
Haha I'm kinda stumped on the habitat activity thing Maybe you could make a day of it and give them goldfish crackers and gummy fish as a snack Or hold class outside on a cool-ish day for a couple hours so they can pretend they're polar bears?? I honestly don't know - you can take the smallest concept and offer it to the kids, I absolutely ADORE how their imaginations play right along
I hope it goes really well, and you should definitely give us a description/post pictures if you can!

Hotmomma, it's really simple! You just have to hold down the home button (the circle in the middle bottom) and then push the button you use to turn the ipad on and off
ETA: jello, I don't own an ipad, but I do have a macbook and an itouch, so I'm an apple girl all the way... I love their OS and functionality! If you're currently on a PC, it's going to take a while to get used to the way the ipad works, but for sure it's the best touchpad out there

Did anyone try to stand their brooms up? Try it! It works! lol If you are on Facebook, I'm sure you've seen people post pictures of their brooms standing up on their own.
These are mine!
