Just returned home from Thanksgiving in PA with family. Loved seeing everyone, but as I stood washing the dishes and listening to everyone talk, I wondered when I became an outsider. I guess moving away does that to you, but this is really the first time I didn't feel like I belong. I've lived away from family most of my adult life so that was a weird feeling. Everyone was great to me but I just didn't fit any more. Kind of a sad feeling. :pinkcry: Thankful that I have a such a loving family, but glad to be home.

Sorry to hear that Peppermom. Holidays can be a blessing and a curse. Hugs for you from your friends here.
We hosted my DH's family and still felt like outsiders. The rest of the family are big drinkers and wine snobs so it's probably just as well that they left fairly early. My MIL passed away 19 years ago and it's been a struggle since to try and fit in with the rest of the family.

Sounds like it's better to not fit in! Next year forget about hosting and spend you time and money and effort on someone/something else.

Aw peppermom! Sometimes it may not be how people act in the moment, but you know that they are always there for you. It is fairly easy to feel out of place and sometimes that is okay. I would consider you an observer...not an outsider!

Hi guys!! I wanted to share this video with y'all of a young mother and her baby boy who was born with and is suffering from EB - a serious skin disorder that just by a soft touch causes blisters on his body inside and out and pain at all times even during times that are supposed to be fun for babies, bathtime. : (

Courtney and Tripp live in a town close by to me, so that's why I wanted to share it with y'all. Her strength and love for her son is one like no other.

Imagine…

a child with painful wounds similar to burns covering most of his or her body.
having to wrap each tiny little infant finger with Vaseline gauze and then cover it with gauze to prevent the hand from scarring, webbing and contracting.
never being able to hold your child tight because if you did, their skin would blister or shear off.
a child who will never know what it’s like to run, skip or jump, or to play games with other children because even the slightest physical contact will injure his or her skin.
a child who screams out each time it is bathed because the water touching its open wounds creates incredible pain.
a diet of only liquids or soft foods because blistering and scarring occur in the esophagus.
an active baby with his knees soaked in blood from the normal act of crawling.
a teenager with stumps for hands, the affected fingers scarred/healed together.
