JBF you could base a thesis on your seminal study of repeated themes on this show - thank you for the synopsis here. It's important because the show always seems to make certain that when they "tell" us something they never seem to do so only one time - they repeat it, and those repeats should serve as a wake up call to all of us to recognize the importance of the theme.

So much of William's Story is playing into Jordan's Story ...

We have seen all sorts of endings to this show - from a "let's date IRL before I make my decision" to choosing no one, to choosing the wrong one / breaking up on TV / and then choosing the right one, to a fake romance that is over before the ATFR, to choosing the biggest goofball of the group.

We know how Fleiss likes surprise endings but his list of possibilities keeps getting shorter and shorter and has yet to be the one he wants the most - his "dream ending".

So - nothing that could happen this season would surprise me.

For Ashley to fall for Bentley's lines indicates to me she doesn't have alot of dating experience. She's had her nose in text books working on dental school. I think her being the Bachelorette has evened the playing field. The majority of the guys there have alot of dating experience under their belts. I hope there's not another Bentley in the mix.

-What do you think about the coin flip date? Do you think they didn't show us the actual coin because Mickey would have gotten that date anyway?

I know you were asking this of ryvetted but my two cents is:

I think she wanted that date to be with JP - I think it was at the Ep 1 RC when she gave the rose to JP that it sort of jumped off my screen that while we had seen zero time spent together they already were showing a friendship and connection with no "explanation" for it. But - that date was simply too early to show Ashley and JP spending that much time together.

I think the coin toss was rigged and Ashley knew it. Later on, when JP suggested a coin toss for a kiss (and one the toss) Ashley said that he was getting the kiss even if he lost the coin toss.

I think it's JBF who has pointed out how many themes repeat and that the second time around they are always about JP.

JP did not really grab my attention on episode 1 but he certainly did after that ballsy "coin toss for a kiss" request with Ashley.I loved his personality and go getter attitude. He liked Ashley a lot and figured out a way to find alone time with her and be intimate with a kiss.The first kiss is usually a good gauge of a couple's physical chemistry and attraction ,which in turn is key ingredient for love to develop . As of Episode 2, IMO, Ashley liked BENTLEY-1, WILLIAM-2 and JP-3.

JP has really stepped up his game! Those kisses in the rain and then on the tram were hot! :lovehearts:

A lot has been made about Ashley’s meeting with Bentley but in my opinion the bigger story next week is how the other men react when Ashley comes clean and tells them everything that happened. Next week is an episode not to be missed from start to finish. It will absolutely shape everything that will happen the rest of this season and maybe the rest of Ashley’s life.

Why would it shape the rest of her life and why did he point that out?

I think she got so snowed because he was initially her perfect man, both in terms of physical appearance and how he was so affectionate and comforting. The most important thing is that she figured it all out in the end and that's all that matters IMO.

The only "curio" is what that "happy place" Harrison was referring to post-Jordan date, pre-RC. LOL! Did their date end looking over the skyline or did it continue... elsewhere.

Funny, how the preview recap for Taiwan makes a big hoopla over Ben's date "running over"... ooh, we just KNOW he has to be The One! Certainly somebody else thinks so in order to get upset. Funny, that no eyebrow of concern involves the actual "timing" of the Jordash affair in Hong Kong.

The Great Unknown the producers aren't going to reveal to us...

She got several reality checks. The closure with Bentley, JP's reaction and hawt date, and then the rest of the guys reactions. It all leads back to JP. The real thing was right there in front of her nose and she didn't see it or maybe believe in it.

Chris H sort of pointed this out recently when he said that Ashley spends a lot of time trying to figure out how JP feels about her. Ali was similarly fearful and CH said the same thing on Ali's show - that she spent a lot of time trying to figure out how Roberto felt about her. CH's statement is a clue - a big one - that suggests that Ashley really does love JP though the full reveal won't come for a while.

So - in addition to her near legend insecurities - Ashley seems to share the same ones that others in her role have felt before her. She keeps asking JP and he keeps telling her that he thinks she knows. I expect at some point he won't make that assumption and will tell her outright.
