Me too! I was happy all the couples got to stay together last night, and then I saw the previews.

'Love in the Wild's' Darren McMullen teases next week's forced switcheroo

Love in the Wild" is the new delightful summer fare from NBC, where couples are paired up for competitions - and for romance. Host Darren McMullen tells Zap2it that the big shake-up next week has repercussions for the rest of the season and the initial finale idea got thrown right out the window.

We saw in previews Wednesday night (July 20) for next week that the couples, who seem to have settled in with the pairings they like, are forced to switch - which was Darren's brainchild.

"I was like, 'These guys are just getting too boring!'" laughs McMullen. "This is all about love and exploring other options and some of them hadn't even explored any options. And I thought let's mix things up a bit."

And the results of the switcheroo are felt all season.

"Not just this next episode, but the fallout from people being with other people changes the rest of the show," says McMullen. "Everything goes tuopsy turvy, everybody goes a bit mental. I'm glad we did it. Does absence make the heart grow fonder? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't."

We can't wait, particularly for everyone's favorite couple Mike and Samantha. What does Darren have to say to that?

"They're not my favorite couple! I actually really like Miles and Heather, I think they're adorable in a sweet kinda way," laughs Darren. "

Mike and Samantha, though, they've had their ups and downs. Mike is very possessive. I'll say this - because Samantha is forced to go with a different partner next week, Mike is not a happy camper. At all. He certainly wasn't happy about that whole switercheroo thing and he's a bit shaken up."

One thing we've all been wondering about is how does the show end? Darren is pretty mum, but he does tease that the initial idea is not what ended up happening.

"The initial idea was in the final episode we'd have three couples and they would be racing for the prize," McMullen explains. "Something spectacular happens between now and the final episode. All I can tell you is it didn't play out like that, so there was a little bit of an upset that shook things up for us as producers."

Intriguing! "Love in the Wild" airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

Here's an article about Heather from the show. It also talks about Ben F, as they're both from Sonoma. I wonder if they know each other.... they follow each other on twitter, whatever that means. The article doesn't really tell us too much about the show, but, it is assumed she makes it far on Love in the Wild.

@happydaisical We are both from a very small town and went to the same school growing up, his mom was my teacher!

people aren't so crazy about getting 'fame' or creating 'fake relationships' to stay in this show yet which make is real and fun to watch so far

My daughter just got me into this show this week (we used Hulu to catch up on the season). I think I like the idea of couples better than a 1 to 25 ratio. I was wondering what they were going to do last week because the couples started feeling pretty solidified so not surprised they are making them separate for the challenges. I like most of the folks left ok, but not so sure about Derrick (spelling?). Mike and Samantha seem so great together. They sure don't show much of Skip and Theresa - they seem drama-free from what is shown. And, just cracks me up how they kept picking Steele and he was SO terrible at everything. Too funny. Anyway, those are my thoughts.

Yep. I also felt so bad for Jason. He should be the bachelor. Poor guy - just wants some girl to love him and he made them all so annoyed. He and Ryan P are a pair with people apparently!

I felt so bad for Jason too. He really seemed to be their to meet someone. He was handsome too. Hopefully after the show he will have a lot more women to pick from. Have you seen Sweet Home Alabama on CMT? It is a cute show to.

No. I don't have cable and just get two stations (luckily ABC is one of them). We actually had to get the box from the govt to make our tv work when it went digital. LOL. We have to hulu Love in the Wild. I can try to hulu that as well. But, I am afraid to get to hooked on too many shows though - jeez, look what happened with me with bachelorette and this site :awesome:

I spend way to much time reading on this board too. I can't wait to see what happens next week on the show but not really looking forward to seeing Mike and Sam on different teams. Ben started out such a jerk but his girl really understood him. I wonder how he will do with a new partner?

This show is awesome!

I really like it since has a little survivor feel to it. It is filmed so well to. No way would I do that snake thing or go through that bat cave.
