Joe is possible, but it seems to early for him to say a line like this. If he said he wanted to see it happen for Emily and Ricki I could see it, but when he adds himself I just can't see him uttering a line like that for someone he just met 2 day before.

As for Sean, I just an not hearing the similarities in his voice and this like. Just doesn't sound like him to me.

Sure sounds like Joe. Not Sean or Jef IMO. Maybe Arie.

OK, I'll cast my vote, JBF. I vote Arie - he has a higher pitched voice than Jef's and he speaks faster than Jef.
Plus, the significance of the VO over a moving car may be tied to Arie's race car driver background.

When the F1 speaks the VO, is it addressing the F1 or the lead's conflict? In other words, who is the one that is worried about taking a leap of faith here? Is it the F1 because he's the one saying it? Or could it be Em?

I think the more telling edited scene is the one you found, JBF, with all four of the F4 talking at the M&G after Tony's (glass slipper) intro. Chris was speaking and the camera zoomed in on each of the F4. I thought it was significant that (paraphrasing) the camera showed Jef when Chris said he may want something, but then the camera switched to Arie when Chris said he'll do everything in his power to get it. I think we should dissect that scene.

OK... here are some "fodder" to analyze or discard to your heart's content. Some may be important and some not, but tossing it out there.

1.) Joe and Jef have voices BEST matching the "leap of faith" voice-over, but... hey!... it COULD be either Arie or Sean. You know we can't argue until we see the mouth move on screen. LOL!

2.) Joe's date had an antique (well... not really) car that was driving slowly in West Virginia. The car we see in the promo is slow moving and old.

3.) Joe's date also had a clock, which Reality Steve claimed was a producer prop and not actually that resort's clock. Jef gets Big Ben later in episode #5 (going by the nighttime London kiss). At the start of episode #2, Chris Harrison tells the guys to make good use of their TIME with Emily as the camera focuses JUST on Jef. After the Muppets, Emily fussed "Where's Jef?" and debated if he was really "into" her in a PI. At the start of the rose ceremony cocktails, Jef repeats the importance of making use of your time with her as if it is suddenly dawning on him.

4.) The camera specifically panned on Jef when Emily discussed Joe's departure, as if she did it... for him?

5.) Joe and Jef get the most focus in Emily's blog, along with some Ryan since he had a date too. She felt that she and Joe were not in the same "place" (or time) when they did their clock business.

6.) Joe discussed Jef a LOT in his exit interview this week. Apart from a fleeting mention of Kalon, roughly one third of Joe's interview was centered on Jef... much as William Holman's June 2011 exit interview had a LOT of JP discussed.

7.) Joe and Jef are positioned as "polar opposites" in the first rose ceremony, much like Ashley's top frontrunners JP and William, both of whom received wedding theme dates... William said "I do" even though Ashley only had a bouquet in Las Vegas. JP got the tux and she sported the white gown in Taiwan for photos, but she questioned if he was "nervous" about the wedding situation. In short, William and JP's dates paralleled each other much as... Joe and Jef's????? Oooh... I had better put that thought on the back burner for now. No point getting everybody confused.

8.) Jef's "fell head over heels" comment on the promo covers Joe and Emily together.

9.) Although we don't see Joe elsewhere in the promo, we do get all of the "hurt" comments over shots of Emily upset after Joe left. Apparently her dumping him impacted her more than she realized.

It is clear that the Joe/Jef connection is significant in SOME way. Maybe these two have nothing in common, but the editors are making those cute little coincidences they love to pick our brains with.

OK... on to the episode #1 lines you mentioned.

Key Chris quote after Tony arrives with slipper, with the face-shot line of Jef highlighted in red:

When I came into this, I told myself… (Sean shown)
This isn’t a competition (Chris speaking)
But… when I want something (Jef shown)
I’m going to do everything in my power (Chris speaking)
to make sure I get that. Feelings… (Arie shown)
may get hurt (Chris speaking)
down the road (Sean shown, who responds “It’s gonna be tough”)

This is definite foreshadowing, but I am still clueless here.

Does any relate to the Joe/Jef (or Arie/Sean) quote? "Sometimes in life you have to take a leap of faith. I want to make this happen for her, Ricki, and myself" (By the way, maybe the first half is Joe's... and the second... Jef?)

Back to Emily's peoplecom quote (thanks Shelby for reminding me): "All day, I could tell just by looking at Jef that he was wondering what in the world he had gotten himself into. I immediately wanted to comfort him because I remember thinking the same thing on my first group date with Brad. I decided to give him the rose because I wanted him to give this whole experience a chance – I truly believe it can work if the right two people find each other."

As for this question...

In Ashley's promo at the same spot, JP spoke of his fear of getting hurt again in Fiji. He needed to get over that fear. At least, Ilene made an issue about how upset JP was when he was heartbroken before... after lasagna time on the hometown. (Ilene, I miss ya. You are such a great mommy.)

Maybe Jef is not the one talking about leaps of faith, but somebody... I think Joe... is giving Jef instruction. In other words, regardless of who is talking, that quote is FOR Jef.

I think the first cap could be from the 2-1. It looks like the same swimsuit.

The second I am guessing is from Doug's 1-1 night portion of the date. She says she thinks he is hiding something.
