His SIL signed him up. The People Water PR just kind of got added with all the Jef support. I doubt this was some master plan.
Personally i think its awesome that they're using this exposure to benefit more wells around the world. Its not just a business.

Ben did with his wine. I think that the fact that People Water does their business in a different way by giving back is what makes it a different situation though because peoples lives are actually being affacted by the commercializing. I also don't think Jef needed this show to gain wealth and financial stability.
Have you checked out World Financial Groups's website? It is a very interesting (in a good way) read.
Ben didnt create a "Bachelor Wine" for sale , nor did Andrew Firestone. Brad didnt create t-shirts or some bachelor bar drink. I dont see any "ABC Insurance loves Bachelor SEAN shirts" for sale. Nor has anyone else's friends been so blatent in their comments. It reminds me of the politicians who abdicate responsibility for what their PACs do in TV ads. The good that this company does, while admirable, is an advetising ploy also. This is a FOR PROFIT company not a charity. Doesnt mean they havent done good deeds and the $$ isnt going for a good cause. But really ... I am surprised that people arent bringing up "the right reasons" question.
I just think it is unusual and curious, and it really does fit within the tennets of the company with which his father is affiliated. Cant imagine that Jef would not have picked up the same (good) advice.

AT the risk of getting too far afield, WFG is basically Amway (or Arbonne) multi level marketing of mostly variable life insurance products. World Financial Group has a network marketing/multi-level marketing (MLM) structure. So recruits can make money from other recruits sales. It is a highly regulated area of marketing, that can be fraught with fraud and pyramid scheme allegations, but also can be entirely legal, legit, etc.

First of all, no one in people water or himself would know before he came onto the show that he'd be so popular or he'd make it to the very end. Like many of us at first, thought he's gone the first night most likely. then there's no way he can promote the company.
However, the reaction from America's better than they expected, and IF they actually did NOT pick up on this opportunity, then he is NOT a good businessman and not a good founder/CEO of the company. So I think it's only natural for them to do it and shows why they can be successful JMO

To the bolded IA. If this was part of some master plan they probably would have made the shirts prior to 5 days ago.

For me, there was no need to question "the right reasons" after I saw the love quotes and comments on Jef's instagram. And the fact that his sister-in-law signed him up. If Jef's friends want to sell shirts to do something good for others, I don't see the problem. If People Water benefits that's good too, but there is no reason for me to believe Jef's heart was not in the right place when he left for the show.jelle wrote:Have you checked out World Financial Groups's website? In a magazine a few weeks ago, Em said some highlights from the season include meeting Dolly Parton and touring London with Ricki. I thought that was interesting being that her F3's dates include Dollywood and in London. :)

Thank y'all for the information. The confusion about Jef's for profit company, the blatant and overwhelming promotion of teamjef and now the information that his father's company is based on milti-level marketing are all the more reason I'm not a Jef fan. Yeah Ben promoted his wine at a grassroots level he didn't have the whole Mormon Nation behind him. I'm surprised ABC is letting him get away with so much.jlccaz wrote:AT the risk of getting too far afield, WFG is basically Amway (or Arbonne) multi level marketing of mostly variable life insurance products. 100% of the shirt sales is going to Charity to build a well not People Water. He is not profiting off the shirts directly.
I agree with others to not capitalize on his unexpected popularity/notariety would be crazy. Its a smart business move.

Thanks jlccaz.
I kept trying to find something substantial in what and how they sell. They sell insurance products (hence Transamerica) and securities through another part of the company. Their basic premise is really sound, but for it to be so successful, there had to be something. You can make a lot of $$ "helping" people and there is nothing wrong with that. I couldnt find the multi-level marketing structure.
I still say that if you want to understand why this show works or doesnt work, you have to quit drinking the and take off the and look to real life.

Not disagreeing. They have decided to take advantage of an unexpected business opportunity. Especially since this window is only open a few weeks. This IS about business.

"Reality television frequently portrays a modified (...) day-to-day life, at times utilizing sensationalism to attract audience viewers and increase advertising revenue. Participants are often placed in exotic locations or abnormal situations, and are often persuaded to act in specific scripted ways by off-screen "story editors" or "segment television producers" with the portrayal of events and speech manipulated and contrived to create an illusion of reality through direction and post-production editing techniques." ~ Wikipedia |
