Re: Bachelorette 8 - Media - Thread #2
Yeah she clearly likes money, so what though? It's all the better that he has money but it's also not the ONLY reason he's F1. Makes perfect sense to me that he'd be her choice and it doesn't mean she's into him only for the financial aspect. Someone has got to keep Cartier in business in Utah, yo!
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

We certainly don't know that! He may have googled him. I am sure there is also plenty of conversation during down time. Or Joe could have even assumed it.
I really hate when people always think the worst right away.

What about the other side... What if Emily is just trying to protect herself too? It's superficial to say that Emily is marrying for money, but no one has said the guy is marrying her for her money...? I love double standards...

Yeah - Double ouch. But not surprising at all.
Hope Jef has those swimmers on the ready for Miss Emily!

Joe: Emily Maynard Is A Material Girl
He says Jef is his pick to win because "he has money."
As we all know, The Bachelorette is a search for lasting love, a quest to find that eternal soulmate. But that doesn’t mean that other, more worldly considerations don’t sometimes enter into the picture.
This week’s Bachelorette conference call was with Joe Gendreau, who was sent home by Emily Maynard at the conclusion of a one-on-one date at the Greenbrier resort. The Greenbrier is a playpen for the rich, and Emily’s comments on the show reflected that it wasn’t her first visit by any stretch.
Joe wasn’t on the show or in Emily’s company for very long, but it appears he was able to draw one key conclusion about the kind of man she might be looking for. He told one questioner that Utah-based entrepreneur Jef was his pick to win. He offered as reasoning the usual generalities: nice guy, good-looking etc, but then added “he has money” as a key point in Jef’s favor. When asked about Jef again, he put things more tactfully: “He seems like a caring individual, and very financially stable.” But Joe left a clear impression that Emily, who has been under the wing of her late fiancé’s racing dynasty family since his death, is not looking to move down in lifestyle with her new relationship, whoever that is with.
As befits a man who barely had enough time to learn the name of everyone in the mansion before being sent packing, Joe did not come across as especially broken up by Emily’s decision to not give him a rose. When asked if he had started to develop feelings for her, he was direct: “No. I knew her very briefly.” Did he spend any time brooding over the failure to land the rose, or wishing he had said something else on their date? “After she made her decision, I was content with that. I wanted to move on, and I wish her the best.” Dry those tears, fella.

well there were a few of them that has money. Starting by Arie. If she is after money why it's not him? Or even Kalon?
And they say this year many of them were at least "financially stable" so don't see the big deal

And the throwing Em under the bus begins. They left in Jef's query at the M & G about her and "material things" and now we have these headlines/comments. Even Chris Harrison made a point that Emily cared more about looking good when in Croatia than practicality.
Surely if Em chooses Jef it'll be for a myriad of reasons least of which might be the fact that, because he "has money," they can continue to live comfortably.
TPTB take no prisoners.

Yeah, it's also his ego talking, since it sounds like he is using his own "lack of funds" as reason one why he was sent home so early, which I guess is easier to swallow than accepting that Emily didn't care for his looks or personality.
And I see nothing wrong with Emily wanting to make sure that whoever she picked had some financial stability and wouldn't be expecting to either live off her family wealth, or for her to join him, with daughter in tow, in living in his parent's basement (exaggeration, but I don't blame her for not wanting to "downsize" for love, especially because of Ricki). At least knowing that she picked someone of means gives me slightly more hope that the relationship could last a while. And there's no way that it would last with a guy who is struggling financially.

lol....Joe is interesting....i think that's bitter talk...to assume that Jef has money is the reason for Emily's pick.
On the other hand, for some reason when people have money/ or come from families with money, word gets around...not sure how...but Jef probably didn't even discuss it.....its been few weeks since people have been eliminated..so I am sure..they all know each other secrets by now...
We have seen how bachelornation is so connected...its like everyone knows someone who knows someone...LOL

Where does Emily's wealth come from? Are the Hendricks and her parents supporting her? Did Ricki's will include her?
From night one's interview, I think it's clear that Emily's desire in life is to be a stay-at-home mom (hardest job in the world, I think). If that's the case, then I fully expect her to choose a husband willing to support her and maintain a lifestyle.
This experience though will give Em her own money plus any windfall from potential gigs that might surface out of this publicity. I venture to say that Emily would then be more apt to find someone who could be on par with her. For sure, she won't want a guy without focus or vision, someone she'd have to financially support, if she's trying to become independent of any pipelines. Good for her!
