that article about Arie and Cassie made me think of something. We've discussed how insignificant the relationship was and how Emily probably wouldn't find it a big deal not enough to get mad the way it's been rumoured to. If that was me in Emily's shoes and I was finding out about the relationship around the HTD's, I'd be wondering why I wasn't told earlier. I think I'd be suspicious about why it was witheld for so long. If she was told after the M&G, "oh btw, Cassie used to date Arie a long time ago and they've been friends for years", Emily might feel a tad awkward at first but get over it if it wasn't bothering anybody else. The timing of when she was told may have made her think there was more to the relationship and that's why it was covered up. This could have also got her thinking about why he was invited on the show, wondering if he just wanted to be the Bach. And maybe it was the reason, an Indy Racer as the lead would be a good catch for MF when you think of it. But does it mean that Arie didn't fall for Emily?? hard to say, but he does look like he's into her, so maybe he did go on the show hoping to get the lead some day, but really did develop feelings for her. Also could be why he went ahead with the tattoo that signifies being judged for a trivial past. Who knows, maybe Emily did toss aside a guy she was attracted to, cause she though he was using her, when in fact he really was falling for her to. Sounds like a Greek tragedy plot

A quick tabloid update for the week:

OK teases a Bachelorette dating scandal on its cover (not the main cover story) and In Touch has a little story inside about an alleged Emily secret. US Weekly also includes Emily vs. Brad as one of their Feuds Of The Week.

OK's B'ette dating scandal is about Arie but the actual text shows how overblown the title is. The article is a 2 page spread talking about how Emily's into Arie but he briefly dated a B'ette producer 9 years ago before quickly ending that relationship to save their friendship. [My editorial note: This doesn't sound like much of a scandal to me] It does say Emily was furious when she found out about it though. There are also a couple of pictures of Arie that refer to him as a playboy who likes to flirt with famous ladies. I think there's a picture of him in 2010 posing at an event with a couple people in the same picture, one of whom is Kim Kardashian and the other is a guy (I want to say Kanye West but I don't remember). Nothing specific but the article ends by saying Emily's playing a game too because even though the NASCAR and Indy circuits are different there's almost no way she wouldn't have known about Arie Sr.'s success on the Indy circuit.

In Touch claims Emily had a chest enhancement procedure and consults a doctor who's never treated her to confirm.

US Weekly mentions how Brad said in an interview that he'd dodged a bullet when he and Emily broke up and says Emily replied to Ashley Spivey in a tweet by saying it was a "diamond encrusted bullet".

A handsome race car driver who likes to flirt with beautiful famous women. Who'da thunk it?

IRL .... Brad was tying to tell her how much she meant to him and that he loved her. She, as she had been coached to do by production, was interjecting ridiculous questions about changing diapers. It was totally inappropriate for the moment. Brads frustration was not with Emily, but with the inteferrence of production in a very serious moment. Brad got angry, the scene deteriorated and he walked out, the filming stopped .... production acknowledged their part, and filming went on .... what you saw was a compilation of what was shot. They really wanted Emily as the next b'ette.

I was more cynical about Emily's part in that.... cause I really do think that Em did want the Bach'ette gig, but can I see tptb manipulating events?? most definitely!!! especially when Brad messed up their plans for Em being the next 'ette (and subsequently having to have a Ben season :giggle: ) by choosing her despite their attempts at discouraging him. This season they have Arie in thier sights (Cassie recommending him for Emily wasn't to give her an everlasting love, it was more about him being next Bach as a hot race car driver.... broken hearted because Emily, who's ex fiance died on way to racing event, couldn't bare to choose a man that brought back painful memories...blah, blah, blah) No way were they going to let Emily mess up their next season, not the way Brad did... not if MF had a say in it.

Northern, I think you nailed it. Arie was added to the cast because MF wanted a good looking race car driver as the lead; what better way to introduce him to the audience than to have him be one of the rejected suitors on Emily's season.

Rejected Bachelor Joe speaks out

Joe, who went on a one-on-one date with Emily and did not receive a rose, held a conference call Wednesday to discuss his brief time on "The Bachelorette."

It appears one of the prime reasons he went home was because of his hesitation when answering questions about being a father and where he sees himself in five years. He was very non-committal and played it kind of like "I'll see where life takes me." Emily, however, wants someone who wants kids right away and wants to step in and be a stepdad. So even though she had fun on the date, she let him go.

His attitude about the situation now basically remains the same. He says he was himself on the date and that they are in different places in their lives. He says he had a great time, but that he is single and free-spirited, while she is looking for someone more settled.
Joe said he put himself out there, but that they just didn't click or really hit it off. When asked why he went on the show, he said he thought it would be a great experience and that he was open to the possibility of a relationship and getting to know someone. Sorry, Joe, but that's not going to cut it with most marriage-hungry Bachelorettes, especially a 26-year-old single mom who wants more children and is in it to find love. And especially when these guys KNEW she was the one they were chasing after. The "I'll wing it and see if she likes me" attitude just isn't going to fly.

I asked him if he gave any thought to the specific type of guy Emily was looking for before his one-on-one date, and he said no, that he just went in being himself and would see what happens. He also said that, even knowing that one was question was so important, he wouldn't have done it any differently. He would still have answered truthfully and has no regrets.

As for his cold response to her decision, he said that he was content with her feelings and just wanted to move on. Once she made up her mind, he figured there wasn't much he could do to change it. He compared his attitude to Matthew McConaughey's, after Emily compared his appearance to the movie star's look.

He does think Emily had a bit of a home-field advantage, shooting in Charlotte. In addition to being more comfortable with producers and cameras, she also got to be on her one turf, in her own home, basically keeping up her daily activities. He said it was much more surreal for the guys, who were uprooted from across the country and thrown into a "castle."

He said he never had time to really develop any feelings for Emily, as he only knew her briefly. He has never been a viewer of the show before, but he met a lot of great people and doesn't know if being on the show will help him get dates or lead to a long-term thing, but he really didn't seem that concerned about his personal life.

Finally, he's pulling for Jef to win the thing. He feels like Jef is a great guy, and it seems like they'd be compatible because "he's got some money."

Wow. Glad to hear that production continues to roll with the "All Jef, All the Time" campaign. Sad that Joe thinks that money is the primary basis for Emily's choice.
