I think there were so many problems that came up to thwart Brad and Emily's romance that it can't just be attributed to one thing. Although she may have had very strong feelings for Brad when she accepted his proposal, and even fancied that she was in love with him, I doubt those feelings were so profound that Emily ever was convinced that Brad was her "soul mate" in the way I'm sure she has long felt about Ricky. Therefore, when filming ended and she was out of the Bachelor Bubble, the reality of how little they actually knew each other, and how different their lives were, probably hit her even more dramatically than it normally does. Combine that with the tabloid stories, the lack of effective communication skills on BOTH sides, their very different lifestyles with Emily going to bed at 9PM because of her daughter's schedule, and Brad running his bars until the wee hours (which probably made having regular lengthy phone calls during the seclusion period, as well as coordinating time to spend together post seclusion, much more challenging), their tempers, Emily's insecurity (and Brad's ignorance of how to deal with it), and a myriad of other things, well, it's no wonder that it didn't work out. And with so many issues popping up with somebody you have only known for a few months, I honestly don't blame Emily if she wasn't willing to fight and sacrifice in an effort to save the shaky relationship, just because they were "technically" engaged.

I wish this guy would SHUT UP...he doesn't know Emily, he has NO idea what her intentions are. As for her and Brad who knows what happened...I thought he had ended it a couple of times. Jesse talks about everyone who does this show as being a "fame whore" or greedy....Guess he doesn't think much of his wife then. I personally don't think Emily is hurting for money, pretty sure her parents were loaded, but again not knowing her personally I could be wrong. This guy is the same one who posted the news article of himself MULTIPE times on twitter...he is a DOUCHE, and I wish he would shut up about EVERYONE else and worry about himself!! Sorry I am done venting now :pullouthair: !!!

I think all of this is true. Also, I had forgotten that little tidbit about Brad breaking it off with her a couple of times and then going back. That was exactly what Laurel said was the pattern with her, but I can see how that truly may have fed into Emily's insecurity.

It is gorgeous on her -much more so than her M&G dress. I understand what he is saying, but still.....

I feel the same way Trippinmom! He's like a toddler who throws a temper tantrum when he isn't getting enough attention.

Anyway, what I remember is that Emily was painfully insecure about her relationship with Brad. Maybe because of Chantal's edit and the Kangaroo mess.. who knows. I thought that Brad kept breaking up with her but she would keep convincing him to hold on. Now maybe he kept ending things because she refused to move the relationship forward... we may never know. But eventually Brad ended it once again and this time Emily didn't fight him on it.

That's how I remember it going down anyway.

A little late with your morning tabloid report but since Love_Me's got the big scoop in the Sleuthing/Filming Updates forum, not too big a deal, right? :Smiley:

There's a 2 page interview with Emily in Life & Style but it's not on the cover. It's full of Emily quotes, as if she gave them an interview but I'm not 100% sure they are fresh/exclusive quotes. I lean to thinking that if they were exclusive quotes, L&S would've mentioned it on its cover. It's a favorable story of Emily that makes me think L&S will once again have the unofficial scoop from production on this season. Life & Style has its own 5 to watch: Ryan, Ari, Chris, Jef, and Doug.

Star teases a story about one of Emily's bachelors having a violent past. It's Doug and based on Star reporting from police records I'm guessing there's something to it though it's also very likely Star is reporting a sensationalized version of it. It basically involves a very heated argument Doug got into with his then-girlfriend/mother of his child and him firing a shotgun into the ground as a scare tactic. The thing is that Star contacted the mother of the mother of his child about this and she told them it was nothing so whatever happened was resolved.

US Weekly has a review of the premiere episode and says the bloom is off the rose - it says even Chris Harrison looks bored (and constantly repeats references to Emily's tragic backstory) and Emily doesn't have the vivacity of former bach'ette Jillian Harris. It also says thank goodness for Kalon stirring things up in the 1st episode so I don't think the review bodes ill for the season (IIRC they gave Ben F's season premiere a very good review).
