I disagree, I think any contestant that gets a 1-1 on or before episode 4 is in the running for F1, so I think Doug has a good chance of winning Em 's heart. It will really depend on their chemistry and shared values. However, I think Ryan has an advantage over him being a Southerner, a spiritual guy and lives not too far from Charlotte. We will see.... once the season starts. I am staying with top 3 picks of Ryan, Doug and Sean at the moment.

One way to look at it, Molly got her 1/1 camping date was in epi 4 and that is in Jason's season, 8 epi's so anything is possible.

I don't know that this discussion is really for this thread but, since it started here I'll place my post here. There are 3 points that I think apply to when it is that a F1 has their 1-on-1 dates. The first has to do with general prinicipal and the other 2 statistics and general common sense.

1. Every season is individual to that particular lead and how their season & feelings play out. So, while there is some value in keeping in mind statistical patterns, in the end that individual lead and their feelings/personality will rule how things go. They may have their F4 in mind and then, mid-way through their feelings change, or the feelings of one of their F4's feelings change about the lead. Then, even if they got an early episode date they may not end up being the F1. An example, early date Graham's feelings to leave leading to, later date, Jesse being F1. There is also a lead feeling that they have gotten enough of a connection on a group date that they don't need a 1-on-1 date right away. Example, Deanna getting rose on 2nd episode group date and only having 2-on-1 date leading her to be last one standing with Brad. One lead demanding that they get an early date with their top one, while a different lead being okay with waiting a couple episodes. So, like I said the leads' personality & season happenings can vary in how they effect who gets what date when. However, it's very rare that an F1 doesn't have an early episode first 1-on-1 date.

2. It's common sense that the lead would want to start dating her top 4 during those first couple of weeks of dating so she can start getting to know them. The lead in general wouldn't want to wait 'til episode 4-7 before they had their first private date. She would, at minimum, want to have 1-on-1 dates with 2 of her F4 in Episodes 2-3. There are exceptions, like the leads who want to use 1-on-1 dates to get rid of dead weight first. However, like I said they wouldn't want to use all their early dates to do that. They would want at least a couple of those dates to be with their top 2.

3. Statistically and to build story arc, TPTB would want to have Emily's F4 have dates in the earlier episodes so she can have her 2nd 1-on-1 date with them in episodes 6 & 7. TPTB want people to be familiar with who will be the F1 and then kind of lose/hide them in the middle of the show only to bring them to the fore again when everyone is going to be on equal footing during the HTD's. In earlier seasons when we had the hidden F1 they would wait for a late date but, they been away from that for a long while now. Plus, with this being around the 10th anniversary of the Bachelor franchise and Fleiss wanting to give viewers what they want this season, I don't think he would revert back to the hidden F1. I think he will want viewers to at least gradually, on some level, see the love story from the beginning.

This discussion will seem especially funny in retrospect if we learn the guys had to volunteer or draw straws to see who played a female role. :)

Seriously though, TPTB probably picked the two guys who they thought would give them the best TV out of the situation -- either because he's super macho or he'd be really funny about it.

For example I think Kirk from Ali's season would've been a goofball about wearing a dress (remember the silly fun he had in the Iceland sweater shop). Big Shaun from Sweet Home Alabama 3 would've been a total pill if forced to don a dress -- and hilarious to boot. Great TV either way.

Which seasons featured people dressing up and playing a role on a group date? I can think of Jillian (Western -- there was at least one goofy outfit, I forget who wore it), Ali (the BNL music video and the swimsuit calendar, which featured some very embarrassing swimsuits for the guys), and Brad (soap opera -- one woman had to dress up like a lesbian trucker? I think she was cut that night). In all of those cases the roles were assigned, IIRC.

Some recaps I found online:

It's time for the group date, and the guys get into the limo and head to a live movie set of an old West town. They're going to the actors, so the guys head off to wardrobe, and Jillian says she wants to see who is a good sport about it. Tanner P. ends up in a goofy looking leopard print vest and chaps Flintstones suit, and he's not happy about it. They get their scripts, and realize that a lot of them get kisses from Jillian... while others (Michael and Mike) have a gay scene together. (Brokeback rip-off alert!)

My comment: I think they chose Tanner for the Flintstones outfit because they thought he'd be funny about it, and Mike/Michael for the gay scene because Mike was the macho baseball player and Michael was a goofball. (I forget how they handled it, but I can see why those two were chosen.)

PSA role highlights: Madison wears a black dominatrix outfit, Emily is dressed as a maid, Lisa is a pregnant lady, Keltie is a butch girl in a neck brace with two arm casts, Melissa is a cougar, and Brad is alternately Gustavo in a Spanish soap opera with Emily and Stacey and a vampire in a three-way with Britt and Chantal.

My comment: most of those costumes could be embarrassing, Emily had it pretty easy as a maid. Madison loved the dominatrix costume and played it up, but it would have been humiliating for someone like Emily, IMO.

For Ali's music video date Frank was slapped a few times and Rated R Justin had chocolate smeared on his face. (The producers knew Justin was a snake and supposedly Frank already wanted off the show that early.) The Weatherman was forced to wear an embarrassing Speedo on the calendar shoot date, pretty obvious why the producers chose him to wear it -- comic relief and he delivered.

So, might be better for it to be an edit type title to the thread relating to date position or date activities. If you start the who will be F1 question and the show hasn't even started airing, much less finished filming, your heading for endless fights and bickering in that context. Especially, with some of the already diehard favorites on the board based on very little info, little knowledge of chemistry with Emily, and the whole right for little Ricky element to the equation. I think that based on statistics (and for the reason that someone mentioned regarding having the second 1 on 1 with the F1 in episode 6 or 7) , the F1 will most likely be Chris or Dollywood date guy. I also think that Doug and Ryan are likely in the F4.
