It's true that someone judged on appearance becomes somewhat consumed by it. I do think, though, that all of these reality show contestants place a weight on external appearances. Not all personality types would go on a reality show to find love. There's a certain degree of comfort in showcasing yourself and your assets for the world to see.

I do wonder where the interest in body-building came from...

I think it probably was an offshoot of being an athlete. My brother went into powerlifting after his college career ended because he could never be a body-builder/fitness model. But I do know a few guys who went that route as a hobby.

For me personally, I love guys who take care of their bodies and are big athletes. As someone who is athletic, I appreciate the work it takes to make your body look that way. From what we know of Sean, this whole fitness model thing isn't really serious and he has a normal job he goes to instead. That makes me like him even more.

I can't imagine the discipline it would take to achieve that look...I give him kudos for that alone. Was there a post/tweet from a past girlfriend who said he was 'self-absorbed'? For some reason I'm remembering that. Still like him...has a genuine smile!

Me too! GROSS GROSS GROSS! I hate the bodybuilder look, these pics of him are just yuck to me. He looks scary with the orange tan! Ahhhh. I like guys who are athletic and in shape but not beefcake muscle men.

Me, too! I like a guy who works out, has a good body, and isn't flabby, but big muscles make me cringe, I personally couldn't even touch them without puking. But that's just me, sorry. Some women love the look ~ different strokes for different folks. I also always wonder if they take steroids when they are gigantic, and they must live at the gym when not at work, which would bore me to tears. JMO :hidingchair Love his face, nice smile, even though light blonde hair on guys is not my thing, just prefer a different type of guy, but it's what Emily prefers, not moi.

ETA, Skitts, I wish someone would find that tweet. I thought she said he was too in love with himself to love anyone. We wrote it off as ex having sour grapes, but that's before we saw how dedicated he is to muscle body building.

For many of these guys, it is really a temporary thing. They work out, enter a few competitions, try to achieve a personal best, and most quit the industry and move on to other things.
There is only so much satisfaction gained in working out to that extent, especially when you don't come up with the BIG prizes.
Think of ice skaters, hockey kids... only a very few make the BIG ranks and the rest just subside into recreational action in their sport.
I suspect it would be the same with Sean.
