Re: Sean Lowe - Bachelorette 8 Contestant - Thread #1
When a contestant gets an episode 5 solo date, it's generally not a good sign, because it probably signifies that it is their first solo date (as Bloomers has pointed out, so far they have never started repeats until episode 6). And the lead's "favorites" will not have to wait that long to get their first date. If, however, the date goes exceedingly well and they become one of the "favorites" after, then (like Ben on Ash's season) they will undoubtedly get a second solo date on episode 7. If Sean didn't get an episode 7 1 on 1, it's highly unlikely he will be F1, unless he gets there by default, like Jesse C. did.
As to the likelihood of him being the next lead, it will all depend on how much of a fan favorite he becomes during the season. Right now he isn't being highlighted or talked about much in the media, but that may change. Reid unexpectedly (from the producers' perspective) became the fan favorite, but was ignored in all the preshow hoopla. It could happen again.
I would agree that of the ones left, on paper, Sean "appears" to be the best match for Emily, except I wonder if he is financially affluent enough to keep up with (or even want) her lifestyle. We just don't know enough about him yet, but based on the minimal info we have regarding his current job, age, etc, I suspect there might be an economic divide there.

I would sure hope one day someone pick a bachelor that is not affluent with cash just because she loves him not because he cant work to provide all the MATERIAL things she needs. Nough said dont want trouble although my mind is going down there in the dirty gutter.

I agree with you that this has been the history of the show. (bolded) However, since this show is history being written as we speak, with new individuals, it is not necessarily true that it has to adhere to past seasons.
Couple of things to point out.
It appears that both Ryan and Chris were early favorites.
They got good early dates but both have now been eliminated.
This is why I am not ignoring the 'slow burn' process which is also possible in this season and should be considered.
Maybe not probable but at this point, still a highly possible option and should not be discounted as yet.
Sometimes, one pursues an attractive "road" only to find that it is a dead-end. Then, 'the road less travelled' is discovered and WOW!
This may not have been what historically has happened but I am not discounting that as a possibility.
I would think that Emily has pursued those that may have FIRST appealed to her but, after those all important 1on1 dates, realized that they were not THE one.
By now, if anyone has kept up with my posts, you will realize I am rooting for Sean as the dark horse for the win.
However, I also see good, logical reasons as to why Arie could take the checkered flag.... :Racecar:
including a few interesting conspiracy theories.

While the early first date elimination that happened with Ryan is not common, it has occurred in both Jake and William. Also, Chris had the same date slot and adventure date type activity that Emily in Ben's season had. She and Ben got sideways when she questioned Ben twice about Courtney, and he eliminated her right before the Hometowns. Since she had a repeat date, many of us questioned whether Emily might have been in the F4 had she not annoyed Ben.
Chris made it to F4 in the same slot. Is there a similarity? It is hard to tell, but it is interesting to note.

All I'm pointing out is that if a contestant's first solo date is in episode 5, it generally signifies that they weren't an initial favorite (and we seem to agree on this). Further, if as a result of that date, they become a serious "favorite", they will most likely be given a second date in week 7, as Ben did on Ashley's season, because the lead would no doubt want to have more time with them; otherwise, they probably won't (like Nicki on Ben's season). If by "slow burn" you mean that the relationship keeps building by small increments over time, while concurrently every single one of the "favorites" shoots himself in the foot, so by the end of it, Mr. Slow Burn is the only one left standing (what I'd call winning by default), I guess it's possible. But I can't say that bodes well for a particularly romantic season, or an encouraging future for the happy couple, to be chosen because you're the only one who didn't "screw up". But stranger things have happened.

LOL
So true. Stranger things have happened.
However, remember some of the most successful relationships in reality are built on friendship first. For example, Mr. Slow Burn may have turned out to be a 'fabulous kisser' when she finally got that chance to test the waters. We haven't seen any of that footage yet so who really knows.
While I know it is a long shot, I don't think we can discount Sean just yet. And yes, we do agree that he may not have been an initial favorite based upon the limited amount of info we have seen.
I am looking forward to sleuthing this in the moment, IRL as it happens rather than after the fact as we had to do in the past (before RS etc).
And if, after the FDs Sean does get sent home, it will be totally understandable to me, by what everybody has been suggesting based upon previous season patterns.
Seriously, I won't be disappointed. I'm just seeing other possibilities right now and until we know otherwise, I am hanging onto those.
