If the frontrunner is obvious upfront, why go to the trouble. But it's not obvious that Em would fall for the softspoken skater boy, and maybe they are banking on the surprise factor this season to keep things interesting. It seems like there are things in the edit to suggest this is what they're attempting ... things like Arie saying he doesn't feel threatened and then immediately cutting to Jef. Jef flying under the radar, while being more of a "threat" all along, seems like part of the story they're trying to tell.
I'm not seeing Sean in the same way. Something about his role feels very scripted to me ... they're not having natural-sounding getting-to-know-you conversations. It feels more like a producer gives him his lines and tells him to go kiss her. That is just what I'm seeing.
To me, Sean is falling into the "telling her what she wants to hear" catagory.
Sean is telling her what she wants to hear and trying to look good.
Arie is hoping that the physical will distract her or be enough.
Jef is not trying to impress anyone, compete with anyone, and is just trying to figure things out.
I think they're banking on the surprise factor, although, to me, they're making it pretty obvious that Jef might have something to say when it comes to Arie. Twice Arie said they had something special that no one else had and he wasn't worried at all, and twice they showed Jef right after, being soft-spoken, awkward and getting the rose. And then Arie's comments about fireworks going off after Jeff gets the rose, and Jeff's arm around her, and being a little confused why he didn't get it. And then Ryan's narcissistic comments about Jef being the safe choice and Emily's and Ryan's depth. And Jef is never once concerned about the others.
It'll be interesting how they juxtapose Sean and Jef now. "The rise of Sean, or is it?"

Yes, JBF, I think we've thought of just about every possibility. We really need new screencaps and stuff to look over. I keep coming back to the board to see if there have been any new previews posted so that we'd have new stuff to discuss ---- nada. Guess we'll have to wait for tomorrow night. There will probably be some new catagories to add then - lol

What's with this notion that only slow starting relationships are the only real and lasting? Many couples know very quickly. My husband and I met each other at a Christmas party and we were both with other people. He asked me out the next day and by that night we were planning our lives together. I know the spoiler says Jef is F1 but if I go by what she said about Arie before, during and after their date they both were feeling deeply about one another. I also noticed when I watched the date again that she couldn't keep her hands off of him. I hadn't really picked up on that before.

Maybe tptb are just having a laugh at our expense and the "rise of Sean" is simply talking about him standing up in the bus. Who knows??? I just find it strange that tptb are tweeting so much about the show - it would only be a select few who would follow their tweets.

It seems to me people are saying that not all couples know very quickly and that maybe when you have a child involved you want to take the time to make sure you're making the right choice, rather than just jumping into something. That's fine to do if you're single and free, but when you have a child it can be irresponsible to do things so fast.

I knew I'd marry my husband on the first date, but I also didn't dive right in. I felt good about it. I didn't show much of it. It wouldn't have been immediate riveting TV.
Who knows what they're feeling. Maybe you can't judge it on what they're showing. Maybe Jef's and Emily's relationship right now is not made for entertaining TV, so they're trying to chop it up a bit. The entertaining TV is the drama and the kissing, and that'll come soon enough.

I dont think posters are saying that. They are saying that ON THIS SHOW the slower paced relationship might be better.

the ratings are not good, it's not what they expected so some publicity does not hurt and that's what they're doing imo

"Rise of Sean" = mid season distraction
I've watched both TB and Survivor from the very first season but I am much used to Survivor parlance. One of the Survivor tenets is that the winner, while being a constant presence and never invisible, also never has the most airtime at the beginning and is usually hidden by one or more distractions.

I have been thinking this, too. Mid-season distraction. After all, it's still too early to make it crystal clear.
